Swim
Comments: Swim went very well. The small age group starting together made for an easy start and the good visibility in the early morning made for good sighting. I swam pretty well, forgoing bi-lateral breathing since the field wasn't crowded and water didn't have much chop. Finished about 5 minutes ahead of my expected pace. What would you do differently?: Not much, it was a pretty good swim for me. Transition 1
Comments: Short jog from the swim finish. Transition went well, had a couple sips of water and then was off What would you do differently?: Nothing Bike
Comments: Ride went really well until the last 2-3 miles where started to run out of energy. What would you do differently?: A little more hill training and some longer rides would have helped the preparation Transition 2
Comments: Just can't pull off getting my feet out of the shoes before transition, so was way more comfortable just jogging in the cycling shoes to my spot. Quickly racked my bike and was off.. What would you do differently?: nothing Run
Comments: Lots of cramping in the first 1-2 miles off the bike. Since most of my training is in rather cool conditions, ~85 degrees was tough to take. Walked several times over the course during a few of the uphills. Was expecting to be 2-3 minutes faster, but overall improved my time from previous tri. What would you do differently?: Need to work on my nutrition and brick workouts to understand whether cramping issues are posture or nutrition during the race. Post race
Warm down: Some light stretching and walking around. Got home and did lots of foam rolling and more stretching. What limited your ability to perform faster: Nutrition into the run portion of the event. Additional longer distance training. Last updated: 2013-02-25 12:00 AM

Arrived early and got a good spot on the racks. Setup my towel and transition area then went to check out the deep water start and finish areas. Almost walked across the finish line moving between the swim start and finish but felt oddly superstitious so I went around.
Light stretching in the transition area and a swim out to the deep water start point.
