Swim
Comments: It's really hard out in a lake on a windy day - I didn't think I would make it, I spent so much time training, money to get up there and everything else, I didn't think I was going to make it - then I told myself, you've been swiming your whole life - you can do this, it's a small step, I saw myself finish on the beach in my head... and I did it! What would you do differently?: not freak out when your out in the middle of NO WHERE and all the boats are so far away - u think someone kick you or what not, but i would have trained alittle harder in the Lake. Transition 1
Comments: Well the water was 82 degrees so i didn't wear a wetsuit - so those questions don't pertain to me, and I didn't have cycling shoes either but over all transition was ok... I wasn't there to get a place - i was just there to finish. Bike
What would you do differently?: get cycling shoes and train more on those - i think they would make the whole difference in the world. But considering this was MY FIRST TRI - I wasn't too worried about it... just there to finsih. Transition 2
What would you do differently?: Hurry up and don't wait for your friends. LOL Geeze! Run
Comments: It was a good run - my boyfriend ran w/ me the whole time almost to help motivate me! What a good sport!! It was nice talking to him on the run part too since you can't have headphones or anything. What would you do differently?: I would practice and train alittle harder for my run next time :) Post race
Warm down: Walked around a bit, cooled off ate a bannanna and drank water every 5 min. I didn't want to over do it. What limited your ability to perform faster: I'm not really a runner (now I am) at the time, I didn't really practice a whole lot of transition from bike to run - I would do that 2x/week 3 weeks in advance to your race - taper down the week of. Event comments: Considering it was my first race - i think I was alittle out of my BOX on this one, and my boyfriend who was so worried I didn't train enough.. (he's a marathon runner & know's tons about tri's) was a little worried I wouldn't finish or it might be a little out of my league. I would train harder and for the WHOLE 5 months... I've changed so much. Now doing a 1/2 marathon in Nov (my first) I've STUCK to the training plan - my body weight I can tell a difference, My legs are a lot more tone and I'm starting to get that Athletic body I've always wanted! Triathlons have changed my life - it's totally a life style for me - I'm doing a sprint on Oct 8th (This sunday) I will post the results, can't wait to compare to how fast I have ran! I can't wait!!!
