Swim
Comments: Felt pretty good in the water. I actually swam freestyle the whole way as opposed to last year when I had a breaststroke/flounder thing going on until the way in. I shaved 2:06 off of my swim time from last year, so I am definitely improving. What would you do differently?: Keep on swimming, keep on swimming. Transition 1
Comments: Not as far a run as last year, but I was in the second to last rack, so it was a bit far. I am getting much better at this tri thing. I shaved 2:04 of my T1 time What would you do differently?: nothing Bike
Comments: Felt good on the bike. I was able to stay in my aero bars for most of the ride. I actually gained time (:23) from last year's bike. Oh well. I ranked better this year, so everyone else must have been a bit slower as well. There was a pretty nasty headwind for the ride back. What would you do differently?: Nothing Transition 2
Comments: T2 goes pretty quick, you just have to make sure that you are not running out with your helmet on. Shaved :06 from last year. I decided after running and cycling with no socks at Wednesday's race, I would try and keep doing sprint distances w/o socks. Went pretty well. No blisters!! Yipee! What would you do differently?: Nothing Run
Comments: Well I am getting there. I felt really good on the run. I put my running water bottle in the freezer last night and since it wasn't super hot out, my hand was freezing. Took a couple of sips during the run, so I don't even know if I need to carry one if it is not really hot. I shaved 5:36 off of last year's time, so I was really pleased. I have made huge improvements this year due to all the fantastic people I have met, especially Mark Wilson who is a fantastic coach and taught me so many wonderful things in one little, short, weekend tri camp. Thank you!!! What would you do differently?: Keep on running, keep on running. Post race
Warm down: waited for Karen and Kristin to come in. Karen ended up finishing eighth in her age group and it was her first tri ever. She has become such an amazing athlete and a super duper runner. Kristin finished 19th in her age group. I have super athletes as friends. Congrats, ladies. You did awesome (which was my word for my wave in the race). We were grabbing a bite to eat (bagel and banana) when a woman approached me and asked me if I was number 750. I told her yes and she said follow me I have a suprise for you. It turns out I won a diamond necklace from one of the sponsors. I will include the pic in here. What limited your ability to perform faster: Nothing Event comments: I love this race. It is really empowering for women. I also was so lucky to do this race with two wonderful ladies. You guys are great! Thanks! Last updated: 2006-12-12 12:00 AM

Woke with Karen, Kristin, Mike and Brad at 4am. The girls were in the kitchen making sandwiches and muffins of english for everyone. They rock. Soon we were packed and ready to go. Drove up to the park, parked Kristin's car, saw a freaked out fox who didn't know what the heck was going on, and proceeded to stand in line to check in. It turns out that the Coast Guard people showed up a bit late and therefore they didn't start checking us in until a half hour late. Because of this I didn't get to meet Brenda and some other folks from BT. I met Mary, Carol, Nora, Janet and Geraldine at the Expo on Saturday. Nice meeting you ladies, hope you did well.
Since we didn't get into transition until a bit late, we got right to work. They moved the swim entrance and the run start which was sweet. Walked around and found Karen and Kristin, went potty and went to find Mike and Brad. They took a couple of pics of us (me in my sweet bright neon green cap) and then it was time for the elite women to start. We watched the Pro gals until they got out of the water and then we lined up. I was in wave 8, Karen in 10 and Kristin in 11.
