  • Comments: This was the second year I did this race. I love that it is very inclusive of all types of 'athletes', I also like that it is women only. That said, I don't like that the course is always so off. I don't know if that is a product of the race site or the coordinators of the event. I know this can happen, but ALL three events? Two years in a row? I think this was my last year.

  • Comments: This was the first year Sally Edwards split from Danskin. It was Danskin SheRox this year. Karen Smyers was actually at the race...at the swim start high fiving athletes as they entered the water and then at the finish line. Pros: Very organized, lots of volunteers, nice medals and awards, "local" beach race where we can stay with my sister Cons: getting out of the park is always a pain, the way they organize the transition area is weird, they got rid of the porch grass lining the long run from the swim to the TA, lack of any substantial food, distances of the swim and bike were short Despite my long list of cons, I always enjoy this race. I am not sure it fits in our race schedule next year.

  • Comments: This was my third triathlon ever, although the first one I signed up for. I applaud the fact that this race allows for all different ability levels and the fact that it is all women. However, it would also be nice, as a fellow participant in this race mentioned, that you could submit race times, so as to somewhat separate the more competitive racers from those folks just out for good fun. Only because you find you lose some time maneuvering around people who have trouble in the swim, or ride 2x2 on the bike path, etc. That said, I really liked that this was all women and I will do it again next year because I did have fun!

  • Comments: Comparing this race to the one in 2006, it definitely changed and not for the better. I saw someone ask about the camaraderie and I didn't think it was as warm & friendly as it has been in the past. They got rid of the swim angels altogether! They had lifeguards, on surf boards, and the lifeguards had noodles but there was no one in the water swimming with the participants. While I understand this from a liability standpoint, and that this is a USAT-sanctioned event, it really made it seem more competitive and less like everyone was helping each other out. I talked a friend of mine into doing this by telling her about the swim angels and when they didn't have them at all, I got worried for my friend. She did fine (hung onto a surfboard once or twice) but I won't recommend it to my non-swimming friends in the future. I think the Long Branch triathlons, with their super-short swim course (1/4 mile) are more beginner-friendly than this race was....and I missed Sally Edwards!!!

  • Comments: I think this is the last time I will be doing this race. As much as I love spending time with Karen, Kristin and Brad, it is a bit far and I missed Luke's football game today. Too late in the season for me.

  • Comments: I would highly recommend this as a first race. It proved a useful drill for learning the tri-race-ropes. My training this year will now have more focus, having had a peek at the end-game.

  • Comments: Despite my issues with this race, I still enjoy doing it. Cons: ran out of food, park is a debachle to get in and out of, transition area isn't set up correctly, wacky racking system (but worked out for us), long, rocky run from swim exit to TA, short course versus what was advertised Pros: local beach race I can do with my sister, a fun race I can actually race Despite the cons, I'll still continue to do this race. It's a fun one and a good chance to push it to see what you can do. Plus I have some unfinished business in 2009. Goal of top 3 in AG next year.

  • Comments: It seemed a little less organized than the last couple years. there were no numbers on the bike racks (which ended up working out really well for us) and the swim finish was really far from transition. they ran out of bottled water and bread products. Still an awesome race. :)

  • Comments: The Danskin Women's Triathlon is in my opinion, one of the best women only events around. It encourages women of all shapes and sizes to challenge themselves and bond with their loved ones. I hope I'm able to do this race every year! It just keeps getting better!

  • Comments: This is a great race for women who would like to start triathlons. It's a fun, light atmosphere with tons and tons and tons of support. It would be nice to have more food than the bagels, oranges and bananas. I was starving!!!

  • Comments: This is a fun race!! Other than the glitch getting in 1st thing, all ran pretty smoothly. One thing that was very noticable was a big change of attutude on the run course. Last year there was lots of hooping, hollering and high-fiving. This year it was down right sedate, I wonder what the differnce was.

  • Comments: This was a great first tri for me. Sally Edwards is such a motivating speaker and she high-fived everyone out of the water and then at the finish line. I loved the amount of support ladies gave each other. I want to do this race again. Oh, and it was really cool meeting the Mosc crew!! I am sorry I didnt get to meet up wth the other ladies!! Go BT!

  • Comments: Seemed pretty well organized to this newbie, though there was a long check in line to get onto the Coast Guard base. Also, the start was delayed by a good 15-20 minutes. Definitely need to get there early to get a bike rack space and check things out. Bring hat, gloves and socks with toes next time, especially if it's cold. They weren't great about enforcing the rules about non-competitors in the transition area and no iPods. Expo the day before was excellent. Food at the end was marginal, though there was lots of water. I will definitely do this again.

  • Comments: Being an all women's race and Karen's first tri, it was a fabulous day! The scene of an all women's race is so great! I had a blast racing with Karen and Julie and managed to improve from two years ago! The expo is pretty good and Sally Edwards is very inspiring and motivational. It's great this is a local race in the sense that we can stay at Karen and Mike's. I think we'll be adding this to the seasonal race calendar.

  • Comments: Of course this race was the best because it was my first. I AM A TRIATHLETE!!!!!!!!!! I'm extremely proud of how well I did. I had in my head that if I did 2 hours that it would be great. It was fantastic because I killed it and finished with my best friend and managed to do it in 1:36!!! What made it even more special was having my family cheering me along the way. I want to thank Klynne because if it would not have been for her I would still be sitting on the couch with my back still hurting. YOU ROCK!!! Danskin was the perfect race for being a beginner. The swim angels were a great help when I was struggling in the swim. All the women were so inspirational and supportive. I'M HOOKED!!!!

  • Comments: This was a great event for a newbie. Everyone was so supportive and even cheered for slow, fat triathletes like me. AND THANK GOODNESS FOR THE SWIM ANGELS! I wouldn't have done the event without them. With such a positive experience, I will definitely train for this event next year.
