Run
Comments: I made sure to go out easy. I felt perfectly comfortable until mile 7, when I developed a large blister on the bottom of my right foot. My legs still felt great, and I ran a comfortable pace until mile 15, when I began to feel it. When the blister developed, I was forced to change my from from landing mid-foot to heel-striking, which I believe slowed me a bit. My quads began to hurt at mile 15, and the pain built for the remainder of the race. I really pushed from mile 19 to mile 23, but bled pace all the while. My final two miles were reduced to a battle to continue moving (although stopping never crossed my mind). Crossing the finish line felt incredible, and all the power that I had pulled from for the last few miles was sucked from me. I inched my way through the finishing area to find my parents and to try to stretch out my devastated quadraceps. What would you do differently?: The only thing that did not go well was the blister on my foot. Other than that, everything went perfectly according to plan, and I could not have changed anything. I am happy with my performance. Post race
Warm down: Attempted to move through the finishing area, sucked down 24oz. of Accelerade, 24oz. of water. Tried to sit down, but my quads weren't strong enough to hold myself up. I eventually made it to the ground, where I tried to stretch, but couldn't. My quads were destroyed. I sat around after the race with my parents and waited for the awards at 12:30pm. What limited your ability to perform faster: The blister on my foot, my fitness. Event comments: This was an excellent race. Corrigan Sports did a wonderful job at putting on the Under Armour Baltimore Marathon. I am excited to do the race again next year. Last updated: 2007-01-20 12:00 AM

I woke up at 4:00am and began to prepare for the race. I ate a Snickers Marathon Bar and drank a serving of Accelerade. I showered and relaxed until 6:30am, when my parents picked me up from JHU (we also drove a few other Hopkins students to the race). We arrived at the venue at 6:45am. I walked to the starting area and found my parents, who held my bags so I did not have to bag check them.
At 7:40am, I ran from the start at Camden Yards to the bathroom facilities at M&T Bank Stadium and used the bathroom one final time. My warmup took 10:43 and covered 1.5mi. I felt great.
