Pre-race routine:

The night before I packed my transition bag and loaded the bike on the car. Even with that we left the house later than I wanted to.
Event warmup:

We got to the race and met up with my friend, Wes. Once we were all checked in, it was closing in on 8. We setup our transition and didn't have much time to warm-up. Next race I'll get there earlier.

There was a pretty long run from the swim to the TZ. Once I got there I got into my bike gear pretty fast (I thought).

The TZ was not organized at all.

This transition went way faster than I thought it would :) There was nobody around my spot so I was able to get out of my bike shoes and into my running shoes in no time. My wife was there taking pictures of this transition.

Course: OH MY COLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I got in the water and all of my swim training went right out the window. I was doing the tarzan swim because every time I put my face in the water I lost my breath. Between 300 and 350 yards I got used to the water and was able to swim normally. So I was swimming along, looked up and and had blown by the bouy - oops! So I turned and swan into the beach.

Course: The course was described as flat, but it was anything but. There were some steep hills, but the hills didn't bother me too much. I passed more than I was passed.

Course: Some pretty steep hills within the water park. Once out of the water park the hills were pretty long, but not very steep. I can't recall any flat spots on the run course.
