  • Comments: I'm not sure why the tri started 20 minutes late, but it really affected the slower competitors, who had to finish in the hot Georgia sun during a week of near-record temperatures. There were not enough water stations on the run. Pre-race organization was very good. I got my packet the day before, and got to the site early enough on race day to pick a prime spot in the bike area. The last tri I did had LONG lines for everything. Even with the glitches, I enjoyed myself, and I will likely do this tri again next year.

  • Comments: If this is close to home it is a good fit. We went friday to get my packet and asked about parking, they gave us a dicounted rate and a pass for the entire weekend. This year was unseasonably hot so about half way through the bike you could feel it. People who do this tri come in all levels of ability, shape and size.

  • Comments: Ok so I do this race because its close. And I had high hopes this year after talking with directors with brian and others last year. I also heard they added some experienced help. Problem 1: Looooooooooooooooong line to get into the park-we had to pay 10$ to get in. 4 stations letting us in ALL jammed full. We were told we'd get 10$ discount on next years registration. I really dont want to do this rae again with next set of problems. Jim Rainey WHAT!!!???!!! Problem 2: Free for all in transition set up. If this is to teach first timers how about you act like its a REAL race. laminated cards designating transition cant be that expensive. Problem 3: no pre-race packets and loooooong speeches at the start isnt the most professional way to do it. Problem 4: Swim where? lifeguard director confusion doesnt really build confidence. Problem 5: Awards. Last year we waited forever only to have confusion about order, placement, and giving out. This year there was no podium for FIRST TIMERS

  • Comments: I had no idea there were 1,000 "my first triathlon"-ers in Georgia. Come to find out, that title is just a title. No biggie, now that I know. It didn't change my experience any. As a true first timer, the event was adequate, but even I was unimpressed with the event overall. Course management was sloppy, way too many cars for a safe cycling event, and no crowd control, spectators just wandered wherever they chose on the course. My "Next" triathlon will be very likely be somewhere else.

  • Comments: I was advisd by a fellow racer that this race would be disorganized as he participated in 2009. I set my expectations low and they were met. The course was marked well, but there were very few volunteers and only one station for drinks and it was water at the beginning of the run. Spectators were all over the course from the very beginning and toward the end of the event spectators dominated the course and racers could barely make their way through to start the run. I nearly ran over several people when entering transition coming off the bike when a few women decided they wanted to be on the other side of the course and just moved a barrier and started to walk across. From the beginning the race was very disorganized and this started with the race website and finished when you couldn't find the refreshments after the race. It seemed like a first time for this production group, but apparently they produce several races around the country. I was disappointed since the entry was $95.

  • Comments: This race gets better and better every year. They seem to tweak parts of the race each year to improve it, but there are still a few things that need to be worked out. They need more volunteers to work the course. A few more for giving directions, as that one guy seemed lost during the run. Plus, they had a great aid station on the run packed with boxes, and boxes of water, but no one to hand them out. It did not bother my preformance as I do not dring water on the run for a sprint, but the back of the feild needed water. That is the one main improvement that I saw. Plus, this year they gave out awards, top 3 M/F OA, and three deep in the AG's. Instead of waiting until everyone finished before starting awards, they needed to start awards sooner. It was 2+ hours from the time I finished until they started. Other than that, it is a great fun race and I will be back.

  • Comments: No water stations on run except as exiting T-2. No one on course to direct at turns and turnarounds. No sponsors at race. they had a sponsor showing set up for later in the day. Odd thing to do in my opinion but they must have their reasoning

  • Comments: We had about 7-8 from our company tri team at this event. This race apparently targeted first timers to the sport. It was not a USAT sanctioned event and was not very well organized. There were few volunteers and the ones that they did have were not very helpful. One of the volunteers pointed the wrong direction and led one of our team members the wrong way on the bike. No food at the finish line, limited bathrooms. There were a lot of spectators which was about the only nice thing. The course was not ideal for a tri. There is another race here in October which I was planning on doing, but will probably not do anymore. I expected a lot more for the $89 entry fee.

  • Comments: A good race and course. The run from the beach to T1 sucked but I guess that is tri-life. Very hilly run but that again is life in the Peach State. I feel like without the hill/chain drop/falling down issues and the turn around issues, I would have been 3-4 minutes faster. Issues aside, I'm happy with the bike, happy with the swim and OK with the run. As long as I keep working out and I keep getting faster on my runs and stronger on my bike, I feel like I could drop at least another 5 minutes off this course. I don't think this is a course you can go sub-1 hour on. Thanks again to Lou and Greg for the advice on going without the wetsuit. Great advice. Thanks to everyone else for all the positive comments. I was definitely thinking about all my BT friends during the race.
