Pre-race routine:

Stayed up late watching the GATORS kick some butt, then got a call from my Gator friends (GatorJamie) to sing a drunken alma mater.

Comments:

Jumped in 3 minutes after the gun and just started. Plan was to do 4:1 the entire race. At 4, I felt good, so we the first interval was 10:1, then the hills started and I quickly wanted to resort back to 4:1.

Rick was my pacer, and I only whined at him a few times, and he didn't have to go run the stairs this time to give me some space!! I was super focused on having a good race and a PR. I knew I had to run when he said it was time, and that is usually my issue when I run alone. I bargain with myself and I usually win!! Apparently the voices in my head are pushovers!!

The last 2 miles were up a big ol long incline that just spiked the crap outta my heartrate. I ran to the top and walked 1 minute to try to recover. Walked the water stations which were every 2 miles and didn't have gatorade, only ultima. It tasted like crap, but I drank it anyway. Took a crank gel at 5 and 10, which tasted like sweet glue at that point.

Played leapfrog with Lisa and her friend Shelley. They were on a 10:2 and would catch up to us, we would chat, then the freaking timer would beep and Rick and I would run some more.

I wore my Gator gear, and Gator chomped as many people as I could find...especially the Ohio State folks. Even threw out a "BUCKEYE?? BUCK YOU!!" That went over really well, AND made me run faster!! :)

What would you do differently?:

Absolutely nothing. It was a great race, and I beat last years' time by 18 minutes!!! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
Post race
Warm down:

Grabbed some water, waited for Lisa to finish, got some pizza and took off.

What limited your ability to perform faster:
