Swim
Comments: Evidently I didn't swim long enough to warm up and get past my shallowing breathing thing. First 200 meters were fast and when I went to slow down my breathing remained shallow and fast. I couldn't catch my breath. I had to stop and tug at my suit around my neck to get a deep breath and calm down. After that I was okay. I started catching the college wave before the first turn and had to navigate through them for a while. Then one of the Sprint waves converged at their second turn and made the last part of the swim a little crowded. The run up the hill to transition was a killer. What would you do differently?: Warm up longer to get past the shallow breathing thing. Transition 1
Comments: I put on socks which cost some time, but it was too cold to ride without them. What would you do differently?: Not be a wuss and ride without socks Bike
Comments: I had a blast on this ride. I was so into it that I didn't notice the cold. There was a group of about 7 or 8 of us battling it out for the last 10 miles or so. Mostly college athletes with some others mixed in. The downhills were super fast (41.22 was my max speed) and it was kinda like a hardcore road race but without the drafting. Lots of lead changes as people got surges of energy the collapsed. Super fun ride. I gave it just about all I had, saving just a little for the run. What would you do differently?: Nothing Transition 2
Comments: Nothing special. Already had on socks so that wasn't a concern. Next year it'll be no socks. What would you do differently?: Nothing Run
Comments: Running has been my biggest weakness all year. Next year I hope to shave a few minutes off this run. What would you do differently?: Run faster Post race
Warm down: Drank a coke and hung out with friends. What limited your ability to perform faster: My run and my swim. I should've warmed up longer for the swim and I just need to get faster on the run. Last updated: 2007-03-05 12:00 AM

Got up early (4:30), ate some breakfast, drank some coffee, got dressed and hit the road. I made it to the event at 6:40 am before dawn. I went and picked up my packet and got body marked.
Rode a few miles with a friend in the freezing temperature. After the ride I set up transition and then got in the water for a 5 minute swim.
