Event warmup:

Swam a lil bit.
Swim
  • 07m 23s
  • 440 yards
  • 01m 41s / 100 yards
Comments:

This was by far my best swim EVER!! I was surprised when I made it to the turn around so quickly. I found Mike and stayed right on his feet, drafted him all the way in to shore.
What would you do differently?:

Absolutely nothing!
Transition 1
  • 01m 27s
Comments:

Had a lot of sand stuck to my feet, but threw on my bike shoes and took off.
Bike
  • 46m 50s
  • 15.4 miles
  • 19.73 mile/hr
Comments:

The traffic was terrible! One girl was hit on the course and I was almost run off the road by a truck pulling a boat. The idiot driver slammed on brakes after he passed me, and was in the bike lane, so I had to stop. I tried to pass on his left, but there were runners in that lane.

I thought I had a gel on my bike and didn't, so that hurt me a bit. I drank all of my gatorade that hadn't leaked out of my aerobottle, and still felt thirsty.
What would you do differently?:

Stay in the middle of the lane and not let the truck pass me. Get a new aerobottle!!
Transition 2
  • 01m 43s
Comments:

I had a TON of sand still on my feet, so I took the time to wash them off with my water bottle. Threw on my socks, shoes and hat and took off. Wished I had taken the water with me, I was really thirsty and HOT.
What would you do differently?:

Drink more fluids!!
Run
  • 33m 31s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 10m 49s  min/mile
Comments:

I was slow. I tried to do a 4:1 run/walk, but just couldn't keep my pace consistent. My first mile was 9:58, and it went quickly downhill after the first water stop. I took one water to drink and one over my head, but it was warm by the time I got to it.

It's always encouraging to see friends on the course too. Jessica & Rich cheered as I went out onto the run, then I saw Jeff, Brian, Jeff, and Mike. Gave high fives and whoop whoops and kept going!
What would you do differently?:

Take fluids with me on the run. Run faster.
Post race
Warm down:

Got cold water, gatorade, watermelon and fig newtons. Went back to find everyone else and run Mike in. Waited around for awards.

Congrats to Mike for a PR, despite a blood sugar of 600+ the night before!! Jeff (Q) for a podium finish especially since he had been so sick all week!!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I'm pleased with this race. It was a PR for me and hardware!! It doesn't get much better than that!! :)

Event comments:

I love this little race!! Chris puts on a great race for the money!!
