  • Comments: DRC is very organized and I look forward to this race series. Since you get your race packet the morning of the race, therre is no need to travel extra miles just to participate. The race series also gives me a chance to see how well I improve (or not) because all the races are held at the same place.

  • Comments: Late start...unusual for DRC. Apparently the buckles that hold the swim area buoy lines in place had rusted shut. Took some time for them to get those cut away and the swim course set. Otherwise, everything was good as usual.

  • Comments: Crystal River is always a fun race, even when I don't have the best day. This time it ended up in hardware, which is great, but I really wish I'd felt better. I would feel more accomplished if I'd been able to kick ass out there and come out with hardware. Part of me feels like I just got it because I didn't have as much competition. First place in my AG was the third overall in the race. I actually wasn't expecting hardware at all, since I'd busted my ass in the June race and gotten only fifth. Funny how I have a slower race, after being sick, and get second. Hell, if Adam (first place in AG) had been in the overall category (they only do first place overall at this race) I'd have gotten first in AG. But oh well, ANY hardware at Crystal River is good for me...I've been trying for 6 races to get hardware here. Sheesh!! DRC puts on a good race. I always recommend these races to friends, they're usually a great time.

  • Comments: Really, enjoyed the course and location, and the size of the race and organization was great. I hope to make there again this summer. It wasn't a bad trip from Orlando. The roads there and pack were very good and my wife was nice enough to join me for the trip

  • Comments: These Crystal River sprints are fun, but VERRRRRRRY competitive. I can't believe I was 9 out of 11. Probably my worst finish this year, AG Percentage-wise. But my time was quite good. In sheer minutes/mile in the overall race, it was only 9 seconds per mile slower than Dunedin, which I blew away. Compared to MadBeach though, it was a full 24 seconds slower per mile, and MadBeach was a harder course. I was sure I was doing well...and then when I saw the results I was blown away. When I looked at the participants list the other day, there were 18 people in my AG. I'm guessing some of them were novice and clydesdale so it left the pure age-groupers at 11. As far as the race itself goes, I was in the upper 50%. 44% to be exact, but even still, it's odd to be in the lower 20% of my age group this year. Last year I expected it. Oh well, now I guess I have to go back...not to get revenge on the course, but to get revenge on the people!!! LOL I wonder if I can finagle a
