Swim
Comments: This was hands down the funnest part of the tri. I wish it was twice as long. I think my rankings are somewhat skewed b/c a large group cheated by turning at the first orange bouy making the course much shorter. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Maybe push a little harder. Transition 1
Comments: Textbook What would you do differently?: Nada Bike
Comments: I hate getting passed. I noticed that I didn't get passed by a single bike that was heavier or older than mile. Everyone who passed me was on a newer, lighter, more expensive ride. Gotta get me one of those. What would you do differently?: Get a light bike so I stop getting passed. Transition 2
Comments: Wore socks which cost me some seconds What would you do differently?: Nada Run
Comments: I was severly limited by my pace on the run. Until the run I was in a dead heat with the 22nd place finisher, Jade Costen. Darn side cramps again acted like a governor on my speed. As I'd increase my pace the cramps would set in, then I'd back off the speed, belch a couple of times, raise my arms over my head and they'd go away. Then I'd pick up the pace and the cramping would set in again. The result was my all time worst race pace on the run. What would you do differently?: breathe / exhale deeper so maybe I won't get side cramps Post race
Warm down: got under the water hose tent, then drank some gatorade then jumped in the lake. What limited your ability to perform faster: cramps on the run, heavy bike on the ride. Event comments: I'm fairly happy with my performace in the race this weekend. I wish my run time was better. In the end I qualified for nationals and I definitely learned some things about nutrition, hydration and racing in the mid-Carolina summer heat Last updated: 2007-05-14 12:00 AM

Woke up at 4:00, ate, got dressed, packed the cooler, got my wife up, let grandpa in the house, and left. Got 1 mile down the road and my wife asked if I'd remembered to pack her chair which I hadn't -- turned around and went back for the chair. Started the drive to Greenwood again. Missed a turn in Saluda, got lost, ended up at a Hardee's in 96 at which I met some EMS guys who were getting breakfast before heading to the event to work. They led us there. Got there in just enough time to pickup my packup, setup transition, get marked, pickup my chip, and swim 200 meters.
Setup transition in record time, swam 200 meters
