Pre-race routine:

Drove up to New Hampshire on saturday morning. Went over to the BT CT house for an awesome carbo load dinner. Turned down an exceptional offer to stay in their spare room. Waited for the rain to let up before driving over to sleep away camp. Got stuck in an absolute downpour. Checked into sleep away camp. Got our own cabin to ourselves. Awesome! Checked every bathroom stall for Jason. He must have been terrorizing some other campers. Set up T1 on the bed next to me. Chatted with local inhabitatnt. Stewart Little wasn't in the mood for a pre race talk. Stewart was more into running on the rafters over my head. I get the feeling he was dropping mini bombs on me in my sleep. Woke up at 11, woke up at 12, what is that screaming outside?, woke up at 1 (drenched in sweat), changed, woke up at 2, drank a boost, woke up at 3, drank a bottle of water, woke up at 4, laid there for 15 minutes until the first alarm went off. Pooped, brushed teeth, packed, pooped, peed, peed, peed, terrible carbo load breakfast... why does every sleep away camp have som eccentric foriegn person working there?
Event warmup:

Peed, set up T area, peed, checked over T area, peed, Checked over T area again, peed, checked out Ailenes T area, peed, drank a bottle of cytomax put wet suit on, peed in wetsuit, waded over to event start...

SWIM - 1.2 miles, 28 minutes 56 seconds, 1:22 per 100yd average
The swim start. I take a look around. Yeah, they are ripped, but can they swim? I find out withing the first 50 yards that yeah, they can swim, but it is ugly. I get punched in the head, twice. The second time half of my cap comes off. Johhnny breaststroke kick in front of me kicks me in the inner thigh, twice. After the second time I say to myself, ok buddy you asked for it, I am not loosing my manhood because you are freaking out. I put my hand on his shoulder and pull him down and under me and i get a nice little push off. I find a good pair of elite feet and settle into a very comfortable pace. Other then the start the swim was casual. My heart rate was very low. i just kept saying stay on those feet. stay on those feet. I didn't site once and I hugged every bouy. Not bad.
What would you do differently?:

Maybe swim a little faster but I am pretty happy with the swim.

T1 was a blur. I got stripped by some excited and energetic volunteers. Forgot my watch, had trouble clipping in, got out of t1.
What would you do differently?:

My transitions suck.

BIKE 56 miles, 2 hrs 49 min 48 sec, 19.8mph avg
The bike. Devils Hill. nice. I went out pretty good on the bike. i loved devils hill, I hated 104. I would rather do a short climb than have an incline for ten miles. I called 104 the 104 thousand pedal strokes of pain. It was especially fun watching these two german jerks fly by my an inch off of each others wheel. I could have sworn them say... Nietze drafting? HAHAHA! I heard they got penalized twice. I also enjoyed watching two different canadians throwing caution, oh actually I mean garbage, to the wind and littering everywhere. Couldn't put that empty gu back in the bento box EH? I finish up the bike and start beggin myself to conjur up some energy for the run. The bike was good for me. I could have gone faster I suppose. I got passed by 120 people on the bike. Now its my turn to do some passing.
What would you do differently?:

Don't know. Hydration and nutrition was perfect. 3 full bottles of juiced up 2.5 scoop cytomax, 6 gus, 1 cliff bar.

Comments:

Terrible. Would have been good except I was almost out of T when I realized I forgot my bib #. Had to run all the way back and put it on... then run all the way back out.
What would you do differently?:

Not forget my bib # or my watch AGAIN!

RUN 13.1 miles, 1hr 31 min 48 sec, 7:01 per mile avg
The run. WTF! I didn't know I would be running on sand. Beggin! It wasn't really that bad, but there was no way I was going to stop for gatorade on the beach. I stop to pee. I start running again. Look down at my watch to start pacing for seven minute miles. Hmmm. My watch seems to be transparent. Almost as if its not there at all. Fck I forgot my fkn watch! I see a kid who seems to be running the same pace as me. Hey what are you running for pace? 6:50s. Giddy up! I get behind him and start the pain train. I am tried FO SHOW! I am running with a bottle of cytomax. Stupid. I ditch the bottle after a half a mile. I have a flash with four gels in it and some water. I master the water drinking out of cup first try. I sucked at this at Hartford in the fall. I am happy with myself. I become unhappy with myself when I see this bitch of a hill. I say I thought this was suppose to be flat. Hey man, this is New hampshire. Oh yeah, Live free or die. Turn around, run back. I pass a man I call EKG on the way back. He has a heart rate monitor on and he runs by me like his hair is on fire. BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP. Damn his heart rate must be in the 2 hundreds. Slow down buddy! Turn around. Firts 10k at 6:50 per mile pace. I still have another one? This is going to suck. Hills. I cramp on the hill. Ouch. It goes away at the top. Thank you god for making that cramp go away. I see all my bt buddies. I try and b supportive and they are very supportive back. I see aaron. He says something like alughaumaguabaidy. Thanks! I think? The last two miles is painful. My legs hurt. THey hhave no energy. My pacer is about 20 seconds in front of me. I go down this little hell of a hill to the finishing shoot and run down the final leg. I am hopeful of breaking 5:10 (halfmaxx championships qualification time) I forgot to reset my bike computer before the race and I forgot my watch so I have really no idea where I am timewise. I sprint. Kind of. I look up 4:55. I am extatic. Man tears try and make their way out. I hold them back. I finish.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
