Swim
Comments: Missed rounding the second buoy, ended up swimming right past it for about 50 yards!. Between the start and rounding the first buoy I kept running into swimmers, so I moved way outside and finally had some smooth swimming and when I looked up I was all by myself. Made an angle to swim finish. What would you do differently?: Sight better, though other than that I am pretty happy with my swim. Transition 1
Comments: Everything went pretty well, but had problems get my shoes clipped in. The shower into transition was great! Bike
Comments: Not too much to complain about, didn't feel very hot, but was sweating bullets. I stored my gloves in my Bento box and put them on during ride, and pulled them off around mile 13. Early on lost one of my water bottles trying to place it back into the cage. Transition 2
Comments: Didn't go very smoothly had problem racking bike, and it threw of my trans timing. I went handle bars first under the rack bar. I have had this issue before, maybe my hybrid sits higher in the bars. It's getting the handle bars under that's the issue. What would you do differently?: Get there earlier practice racking. Also the rack probably sags as more bikes are adde. This would create a lower height between the ground and the racking bar. Run
Comments: Had problem cooling down, heart rate was ok, just couldn't cool down. When I was running into the sun I was thinking just keep going and when I get to the turnaround the sun will be at the back it should be much better, ah... no... The guys at the water stop must of thought I was taking a shower. What would you do differently?: Must need to do more bricks, just running so slow on the runs. Maybe some mental work on the heat. Post race
Warm down: Walked around, dumped a couple of bottles of wonderfully cold water on the head and body core. What limited your ability to perform faster: Experience Event comments: Really, enjoyed the course and location, and the size of the race and organization was great. I hope to make there again this summer. It wasn't a bad trip from Orlando. The roads there and pack were very good and my wife was nice enough to join me for the trip Last updated: 2007-06-23 12:00 AM
