Results said 6:26 pace What would you do differently?: Longish bike ride day before took some zip out of my legs for the race but I wasn't willing to give up a whole weekend of training for an early duathlon. Comments: Hammered. Results said 22.5 mph. Last year with my old road bike I wasn't in the mix with any of the other elite wave racers. With the new bike this year I was able to mix it up a fair amount. I compared the bike splits of some of the local pros and top elites for 2008 and 2007 and most of them were within 30 seconds of last year's split - surprising with the strong winds we had. My bike split this year was 1:56 faster than last year. Probably mostly due to the new bike but hopefully some due to better bike fitness - who knows? Warm down: Jogged about 10 minutes but had to go catch a plane right after the race so grabbed my stuff and hit the road. What limited your ability to perform faster: Probably affected by the bike ride the day before, but that was the plan. Event comments: This is always a great, competitive early race in our region. Quick spin on bike to make sure mechanicals were OK. I just put the new Ergomo powermeter on the bike and the bottom bracket/crank spacing isn't quite the same as the old DA setup, so I had to have the Gear West folks do a quick adjustment on the front derailleur.
About 15 min of running and some striders to warm up
