  • Comments: Definitely a great race, very well organized, and attracts some of the best local talent. The cross country-style run is very challenging for me (almost too hard), but I know the bike course well given that this is my stomping grounds. I'll have to be more cognizant of birthday planning next year before I sign up.

  • Comments: Great race, had a lot of fun, and definitely plan to be back next year. I felt the event was well organized and offered a pretty good challenge. *P.S. It's always awesome when conditions turn out better than expected (...Falls Duathlon)

  • Comments: I will probably do this race next year. I like to gauge my performances on same race comparisons. This was a good gauge of how much work i need to do. I am ahead of last year at this time for overall endurance and mileage, but behind speed. SO i need to switch gears a little and get some speed.

  • Comments: Great, competitive race. Well organized, very well marked (especially given all of the off-road segments). It was great to have the volunteers they did, especially given the weather. Thanks again to BikerGrrrl and MNRunnergirl, and any other BT'ers who I didn't recognize or see. I will certainly consider this again next year as a nice tune-up for the summer.

  • Comments: I enjoyed the race even it wasn't an A+ performance. I used the race to pretty much try out duathlon and wasnt out there to win. I was happy the rain held off until the races and awards was over too.

  • Comments: I would do it again - but some big sections of the bike course were pretty rough, and there wasn't really any drink stations on the course.

  • Comments: Gear West Du is a very popular race on the local calendar. Shop owner Kevin O'Connor really puts in a lot of effort to make this a great race. The gear raffles at the end are awesome but we walked away empty-handed. Only 6 days until Apple Duathlon - World Short Course Du Championship qualifier.

  • Comments: Stayed for the raffle which took a looooong time after the awards. I don't know why I bother, I never win anything :) Raced for 2 hours and stood around for 1.5! Think of how long the fast people hung around. This is a challenging race which draws a fast, tight, tri/du crowd in an area where a lot of people are used to training in. It's totally different from a small local event, or the Irongirl Du which attracts a lot of first-timers. So it's nice to do well at events with a less elite crowd, it's probably a good idea to take on a challenge occasionally.

  • Comments: This is always a great, competitive early race in our region. The off-road run course is a nice change of pace from other races.

  • Comments: Gear West Duathlon is a great reace and Kevin O'Connor and GW staff really put a lot of effort into it. Post-race activities (grilled hot dogs and tons of equipment giveaways) are excellent. I didn't repeat as winning one of the raffle prizes like I did last year. I could have used the Zipp 808's they gave away!! I adjusted leg distances so that pace per mile running and mph on the bike matched what results said. Although I had extra clothes on for the race due to the cold temps, you can tell I'm packing a few ice cream pounds in the attached pictures!!
