Pre-race routine:

Didn't sleep well the night before the race. My wife and I stayed in a local hotel which was very nice, but still. Ate some breakfast at the hotel which included some spicey sausage (bad mistake). Drove to the race site and had plenty of time to setup transition.
Event warmup:

.5 mile jog / 500 meter swim. The race start was delayed by over an hour due to heavy rain, thunder and lightening and the bike course was shortened by 4.4 miles
Swim
  • 26m 2s
  • 1500 meters
  • 01m 44s / 100 meters
Comments:

My sighting was very good. I zigged and zagged a lot and the shape of the course required good navigation. Basically, I don't swim straight and I need to work on that. It was, however, a PR for an OWS of this distance so I can't complain too much. I know it could've been a good bit faster though.
What would you do differently?:

swim straighter and navigate better.
Transition 1
  • 01m 30s
Comments:

I was disoriented coming out of the water and a little slower in this transition than I would have like. The wetsuit hung on my heels a litte as well even though I had plenty of Body Glide on. Also, the time for T1 is just my guess. the rain shorted out the timing device. I could've been slower in T1 and the swim a litte faster, really not sure, because the swim time includes t1 on the results.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Bike
  • 53m 25s
  • 19.66 miles
  • 22.08 mile/hr
Comments:

Good bike. The ITU guy and out-of-towners may have walked away with the hardware, but I beat them on the bike. I rode the CR1 road bike with aerobars because I haven't been given the Plasma yet. It worked out well for this course with all the climbing.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Transition 2
  • 00m 58s
Comments:

Pretty quick T2. The Zoots worked out really well, they slid right on and with a quick yank of the cord I was on my way.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Run
  • 42m 4s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 06m 46s  min/mile
Comments:

Still my weakest. I need to push harder on the run or go a little easier on the bike. Something ain't right.
What would you do differently?:

Run faster
Post race
Warm down:

Massage

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Slow run, bad sighting in the water, not swimming straight
