Swim
Comments: I was pretty unhappy with my swim. I had a tough time seeing the buoys. My goggles kept fogging, and we were swimming into the sun. I think that I zig zagged all over the place. I will not use my wakeboard wetsuit again! It seemed to slow me down. What would you do differently?: I will get a tri wetsuit before my next race. New goggles wouldn't hurt either. Transition 1
Comments: Race results aren't up yet, but this event was not chip timed, so I don't know that I will find out what my time T1 time was. I know that it was fast...somewhere around the 1 min. mark. Bike
Comments: I was happy with my bike split. I spun everything in my big chainring and maintained a high cadence. I really cruised on the downhills. I could have probably gone harder, but wanted to save some for the run. What would you do differently?: Go harder on the bike. Transition 2
Comments: T2 was good. Not real sure of the time, but this one was also very quick. After my last experience in T2, I made sure to take good note of where my bike was racked. Run
Comments: There was not much shade running on the road, but I managed not to overheat. I threw a cup of water on myself as I left T2 and that seemed to help. I also ran with a visor which kept the sun off of my face. I was really, really, really happy with my run. Post race
Warm down: I watched several other racers finish. Waited for my brother to finish. This was his first race and he did great! What limited your ability to perform faster: A crummy swim. Event comments: This race was awesome! I will be back next year. It was well organized and very fun. My family had a great time hanging out in the park watching the action. I was bummed out that we had to rush in and then rush right out. I wasn't able to met up with anyone from BT. Maybe next time. My goal was to finish in the 1:25 range so I was really happy with my finish time. Last updated: 2008-06-24 12:00 AM

Pre-race nerves were pretty bad this time. I went to bed about 10 on Friday night and was up and ready to go by 5 on Saturday morning. I tried to eat some oatmeal for breakfast, but didn't have much luck with that. Meg and the boys woke up about 6:30 and we were ready to leave the house at 7:15. Then we had to wait for my brother to show up. We finally left the house around 7:30. We got into Clear Lake around 8:15. Once we were there and I got my transition area set up, my nerves calmed down and the adrenaline kicked in. I had a gel about 10 minutes before the swim started, then got in the water to warm up.
Got in the water 5 minutes before the start to get used to the temp.
