Swim
Comments: Good swim. I tried to just stay steady with long smooth strokes. Never felt out of breath or off pace at any time. I would say I swam at 80-85% effort to save myself for the rest of the day which is what I wanted to do. Very happy I kept my plan in place. Caught 2 waves in fromnt of me and started at the back of my own wave. What would you do differently?: nothing Transition 1
Comments: My bike was at the total opposite end of the bike out area so I had to run a long way with my bike. There was a hill leading right out of transition, so I put my shoes on at the bike rack. What would you do differently?: nothing Bike
Comments: Bike went better than I had planned. I expected the hills to be tougher than they were. My chain came off just as I went downt he first hill after coming back into the park. Lost about 45 seconds to a minute there, but no super big deal. What would you do differently?: not drop the chain Transition 2
Comments: Forgot to grab my race number as I left transition so I had to go back and pick it up after finishing the first couple miles of the run. That cost me about 1.5 minutes. What would you do differently?: not forget my race belt Run
Comments: Forgot to grab my race number as I left transition so I had to go back and pick it up after finishing the first couple miles of the run. That cost me about 1.5 minutes. used my normal routine of stopping for a few seconds at the water stops to be sure to drink properly and got off and running right away. Each stop was probably 5 seconds so I am okay with that. What would you do differently?: not forget my race number. Otherwise, I kept control of my pace very well and felt comfortable the whole way. Post race
Warm down: Got my medal from Miss Crissie Wellington herself and got a photo with her as well. Very exciting. Walked around talking to family and friends. Ate a great hot dog and had a Pepsi then headed back down to the camp site after grabbing my gear. What limited your ability to perform faster: Forgetting my race belt in T2 and dropping the bike chain. Otherwise, the race went better than planned. The weather was perfect and I felt great all day. I told myself to just use it as a training day and not push too hard and I was very happy with the way I controlled my effort all day. Event comments: The orgainization in teh days and weeks leading up to the race weekend was rather poor. However, once the race weekend was upon us, it was quite good and overall I would recommend this race to others. You just need to constantly be checking the race web site as well as beginner triathlete for event details. Last updated: 2009-02-07 12:00 AM

Left the camper about 5:30 and walked up to T2 and got set up, then walked down to T1. Talked to some friends and just tried to stay calm. Felt very relaxed anyway. Watched the pros leave T1 and got lined up for my swim wave
