Run
Comments: My goal for this run was to go under 1:35 and if possible stay at a 7:00 min/mile. My initial pacing was on target but I was feeling very sluggish until mile 4. I was contemplating letting the goal go but since I was feeling stubborn I just kept my pace. The course had about five miles along the lake that just rolled. Nothing bad but I'm not used to pacing this type of run. I've been very spoiled racing pancake flat courses. After the lake portion of the run we went though the I-90 tunnel for about a mile. Unfortunately, they put a band on the far end of the tunnel and tunnels aren't known for their acoustics. So not only does the Garmin go out but the eerie sounds made for an odd experience. After the tunnel it was about 2 miles to the finish. I saw the 1:30 pacer down the street and thought I shouldn't be that close but I'll take it. I just kept pushing the last two miles and did what I could to gain ground on that little sign. What would you do differently?: Not much that I can think of. Post race
Warm down: The UPS gear bag trucks weren't there so I walked back to the hotel and took a shower. Went back to see Kim and the gang and get my gear bag. Event comments: A very fun race and well organized for an inaugural event. I'm very happy with the results. Even though I missed 90 minutes by 14 seconds, it just gives me another goal for next time. Also, it made it great to have BT friends to chat with before and after the race. Last updated: 2009-04-06 12:00 AM

Alarm set for 4:00 AM. Ate a peanut butter bagel and banana as usual. I don't change this routine because it seems to work well. I signed up for this race since it landed on my birthday and I could turn it into a little vacation. So while I was eating my bagel Kim gives me a present. It was a cycling jersey off Bonktown. It was a nice jersey but the fact that my wife went to Bonktown for me was just cool.
Took the bus down to the event start and talked with fellow BT'ers for an hour or so. Before the race I did a short mile jog and wandered my way down to my corral.
