Swim
Comments: Simple out and around course. Seemed long which most of the athletes agreed with. Sighted well. Water was extremely muddy and it was impossible to see even a foot under water. Literally. Got kicked in the jaw when I got a bit to close trying to draft. A quick second to make sure my jaw was still attached and I was back at it. Decent swim for me. What would you do differently?: Wasn't long enough to really pick apart. Transition 1
Comments: Fastest womem's T1 time despite TERRIBLE rack position. That's what happens when you don't pre-register. :) Bike
Comments: Brutal bike conditions due to 25+ mph wind, heat and humidity. Climbing hills into a headwind sucks. Overall paces were very low today. Passed every woman who came out of the water before me by about mile 5-6. Posted fastest OA women's bike split by a decent margin and came into T2 alone. Transition 2
Comments: Ran off the bike into ankle deep mud. Tricky navigation as bike doesn't push from the seat as it normally would when not rolling through mud and water. Run
Comments: Difficult run. Large unavoidable areas of standing mud/water. Wickedly hot and humid (98 degree heat index). Legs were spent and as a result I suffered on this one. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: IM Training!! Event comments: This is a fun local race that I couldn't resist doing. It certainly wasn't in the best interest of my IM training but it was well worth it. Saw lots of friends and had a fantastic time. On fresh legs this was my race to win. Maybe next year. :) Last updated: 2009-04-08 12:00 AM
