Pre-race routine:

Stayed up to late, couldn't sleep, woke up before alarm. Up and had breakfast and coffee. 2-Rstops and tried to figure out what to wear. Drove to site and got there with 54 minutes to spare. Register and decided to wear pants. Mike showed up early (unusual) with shorts on last minute went to shorts so only two changes. Gloves hat and jacket. Long sleeve tech shirt. Peed and walked up the hill to the start line.
Event warmup:

Walking up the hill to the start line.

Comments:

Had a goal of braking two hours. Problem I told Mike. He said he would help me stay at 9 minute mile. This was glorified training run for us, anyhow twenty bucks for a half. Why not? It was a very ceremonious start something like stay to the left and go on go.
Off we went Mike said we may want to back off our sub eight pace. I told him I was trying to find race booty. I back off a little. Legs were feeling good mine not my race booty pacer. She just back handed me and took off. I thought I may get a lap dance when 3 miles out some girl said the shirt was coming off. Just more layers under that. Hit route 251 and it was the end of the easy downhills. You had to earn every downhill and they were to short. Over all we were headed up hill. We settled into a 8:30 pace behind a couple friends. Held that was till last 2-3 miles. Mike took off, no sweat almost home. We had moved along well. Was hoping to keep thwm all under eight but I bonked on the last mile. It is up hill for the last mile 55 feet of rise. Ouch, I thought I had to walk some. I did until the loud voice from behind yell "You can't stop now you almost home!!!" Some gal was letting me know quitting was not an option. I started to run. She did pass me but that hill was kicking my ass. Now I didn't dare walk again. I thanked her at the finish line for the kick in the ass. Mike finished on a dead run about 3 minutes ahead of me.
What would you do differently?:

Would have scrapped the jacket and gone with two shirts. Also would have taken another gel at 8 miles.
Post race
Warm down:

Wandered around trying ti get HR down. Had some water and 1/2 orange. Needed to get home shower and get to my massage.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Pulling up that extra 30 pounds uphill

Event comments:

I bested my goal by 6 minutes SWEET. This race came up out of the blue. We are training at this distance and farther so it fit right in.
Hope I surprised Mike a little with my improvement. Thanks Mike. Feeling good with scheduled Marthon now. still needs some longer runs.
