Swim
Comments: This was my best swim in open water EVER. I swam the whole time, drafted, and even survived someone swimming over the top of me. I was relaxed and felt good for the entire swim. My target time was between 16 and 20 minutes. What would you do differently?: Nothing, just continue to train on increasing speed. Transition 1
Comments: T1 was ok. Bike got stuck on the rack and someone's balloon. The balloon was almost history that time, but I ended up finishing it on T2. Still need to work on getting faster in T1, but I always feel like I need a minute to get my equilibrium. What would you do differently?: Work on being faster, not rack on an end where my bike handles can get caught. Bike
Comments: Need to work on pacing myself. I think next year is the year I get aerobars! What would you do differently?: Pace myself better. Transition 2
Comments: I got a little turned around in T2. The bike in was different than I thought and I got a little turned around getting back to my spot. That stupid balloon got in my way, and when I shoved my bike back on the rack, I did it in. What would you do differently?: Double check the bike in to make sure I know where I am going. Run
Comments: I felt strong and great at the start of the run, but my Achilles began to KILL after a mile and a half. I pushed through it but it definetely slowed me down a bit. I was honestly surprised by my time for the run, one second off my 5k PR. I would have smashed that if my ankle wasn't hurting! What would you do differently?: Nothing. Post race
Warm down: Grabbed ice for ankle, and walked to watch for friends finishing the race. Walked the 1.2 miles back to the car. What limited your ability to perform faster: My achilles'. Event comments: This was a fun race and I think I'll do this one or Trek next year! Last updated: 2009-04-12 12:00 AM

Arrived at the race site via shuttle. Racked the bike the night before, and was actually glad I did as the racks were jam-packed this morning when I got in. Walked into transition, set up my gear, walked though the swim in/bike out/bike in/run out. Talked with some friends who were also racing, and then walked over to the start with Billy.
Ran 1.5 miles, stretched, got into wetsuit, stuck toes in water, and got in line!
