  • Comments: Had a great time today and was so inspired by some of the teams that were out there...Team Phoenix was amazing! I was also proud to be a part of the tunnel of love as the last triathlete crossed the finish! And although it was nerve racking and intimidating to be with the elites it was great to race with the fasties if only for a few minutes!

  • Comments: To be honest I was not looking forward to the sheer volume of people participating in this event. I really thought I was not going to enjoy it. However, at no point did I think the amount of people caused a problem. Every part of the race seemed under control and it was clearly well run. I ended up really enjoying myself!

  • Comments: I simply love the Danskin race-- it was my first tri last year, and the vibe was just as positive this year. Great fun to do it with a friend and let her see for herself what all the enthusiasm is about! I asked her during our cool-down if she now wanted to do next year's race on her own, and she said "I do, actually"-- score one for those of us luring the unwary into the addiction that is triathlon...*grin*

  • Comments: This was a well run race and I enjoyed it. There are a few complaints though - check-in only went until 4pm on the day before. This was a challenge since we live 2 hours away and all had plans for Saturday that we needed to cancel. Upon arrival, the only race shirts left were size Large and they were SMALL! My two firends don't fit in them and I barely do. For such a costly event, I would expect to have the size shirt I ordered and one that fits me. The post-race activities were nice, typical food/water/gatorade and they had a band playing near the lake. I would do this one again!

  • Comments: I'm going to say I rate it a 5, only because it is my first race and it seemed very well orgainized, and I had a lot of fun. It was a very supportive envriment for beginners, and I didn't have issues with transport that some people did because I biked in from the outlet mall. I'm VERY pleased with my time. Especially on the bike. I was hoping for 2 hours or less total, and I blasted that at 1:42:09. I think thats way respectable for a beginner... especially one who used to be 300lbs just over a year ago. I think I was in the top 32 percent... Probably won't be that way at Accenture as there are way more serious races there and not so many beginners attempt an International Distance. Just crazy ones like me. I'm now a triathlete! WOO!

  • Comments: I thought the event was very well organized. The parking was the only issue that I had with the whole weekend. I was worried about space in transition so I racked my bike on Saturday, but it would have been nice to have my bike to ride in on race morning which was an option given to us. I had a very good time and am already planning to come back next year. Hoping to recruit a couple of friends to run it with me.

  • Comments: I love this race. It was my first triathlon a year ago and it's a ridiculous amount of fun. A perfect event for anyone who wants a memorable experience for their first tri and wants a super friendly and supportive tri environment. My only beef is the whole drama with parking for this event. I still wonder why they don't offer an athlete drop off in the morning via car since the shuttles take forever...my husband had to drop me off at the highway exit since the roads were blocked off. It was about 1.25 miles to the race site.

  • Comments: Parking was a big problem - with 4,000 competitors they tried to collect fees for parking. Big mistake caused them delay of start times by over 20 min.

  • Comments: No post-race activities, which was a bit of a let down. If you were in one of the earlier heats and a pretty quick triathlete, you could hit up some of the booths that were at the pre-race expo on Saturday (the race was Sunday), but it was hard to find much open if you got done after 10am.

  • Comments: Overall, it was a fun, girl-power kind of race. Fun for novices and non-competitive types! About half of the people had road bikes, while the other half had mountain bikes/cruisers/hybrids etc. I loved the swim and found it less challenging than triangle courses and the navigation was much easier. The bike course was fun, but extra challenging because of the heat and wind. The run was flat, but hot, no shade, and not enough water stops for the conditions. I enjoyed the course, but the parking, expo, and the rigmarole around the race is completely exhausting and irritating. If my buddies do it again next year, I will probably do it again.

  • Comments: I say this every year... I love the race itself -- it's well-done, organized and very inspiring -- but am 100% aggravated by everything else about it. The expo: sucked. Few vendors, sub-par goody bag. As far as I found, they didn't even have a booth where I could buy gel. Parking: don't even get me started on this. Every year they have more and more women competing, but they can't seem to handle all the cars. Post-race: one bagel and piece of fruit per athlete. I understand that they need to have something for everyone, but with as big as Danskin is, don't you think they could get more stuff there? More variety? Now that I'm done venting... the race is totally inspiring. We stayed and cheered a lot of women into the finish chute, and I literally tear up seeing some of the women and their courage and drive and motivation and pure JOY at accomplishing something like this. Sometimes I take for granted that I have the ability to do these things, and but witnessing the determination

  • Comments: I thought that my sister and I were nuts to be doing this. We were celebrating her 60th birthday which was on race day, and I am 65 1/2 so what in heaven's name were we doing?? We should have been having our celebration (me, my daughter Autumn, my sister and her 2 daughters) going to a spa!!! But it was a wonderful experience. I was so impressed with the "average" women doing this race. All ages, shapes, sizes: it was truly inspiring. And my daughter Autumn was our fearless leader, organizing, encouraging, putting up with all of my "I must be nuts to be doing this" etc. She is truly inspiring! I felt so good when I finished and then hearing "and in the 65-69 age group, our 3rd place finisher from Duluth, Mn is Kathleen Clark" was practically like winning the lottery! Almost as good as when I was in labor with baby #2 and heard my husband say" Well, you've got your girl" which was Autumn! I loved the whole experience.

  • Comments: I gave this race a Yes for Organized, because the race itself was organized well....IMO. But the departure? Oh man! A LOOOOOOOONG walk with one hand on the bike, the other on the stroller to the mysterious ReUnite area, then being told that it's not there, walking all the way back, and then another 1+ mile... that was a bit of a planning fiasco, I would say! Loved the whole experience, though, and can't wait to do another one!!!! I was considering an Olympic distance, but really think it might be too much for me right now. I may be better off to actually go through a training program for one and see where my weaknesses are...(there are many, I know).

  • Comments: I really enjoy this race for a lot of reasons -- it's a great venue, the race itself is well-organized and there's something about an all-women's race that has such a different vibe from a mixed race. But - the parking situation has GOT to be fixed. Volunteers were not well-informed about how to get to the reunite area and gave bad directions. The line for the shuttle really detracted from the race; when people started seeing how long it was, it seemed more important to get in line than it did to stick around and see other racers come in.

  • Comments: danskin gets a 4...it was an AWESOME event, with lots of volunteers, and a great venue, and so many amazing women participating. BUT, it was SO big, that everything took a reeeeaaaaallllly long time. this ended up being really hard on the first time triathletes i was with, and for my husband and kids. the lines for the port-a-pots were really long, and the line for the shuttles back to the parking area was insane. still, it was a great race, and it was a VERY good experience overall for my mom, aunt, and cousins. i don't think i'll do it again any time soon...but who knows. (btw, no age group ranks are listed. there were SO many people, i tried to guess at my placement by scanning through the top 100 in my age group - in general, top 10% overall and age group, 10% on swim for both, top 5% on the bike for both, top 25% on the run for both). PICTURES COMING SOON!!!
