Swim
Comments: Water felt good. For the first time I tried to "sprint" at the start. It worked out pretty well. Sighting was fine, again being familiar with the course helps. Felt really fresh throughout, passed some folks. I always have fun with the sandbar by the island right before the finish, climbing up and then diving over the other side. What would you do differently?: Nothing, I'm happy with how my swim is progressing. Transition 1
Comments: Tripped coming up the carpet out of the water. It felt like T1 took FOREVER, so I'm pleasantly surprised at the 2:07. What would you do differently?: I could have shaved a few seconds off, but nothing worth crying over. Bike
Comments: Don't get me wrong, I'm happy with the time and MPH, but frankly I was hoping to break 40 minutes. But still, almost 3 MPH faster than last year (so that's apparently what a tri bike gets you over a road bike), once again didn't flat on the stones leaving or entering the parking lot, and didn't draft like a bunch of the other jerks out there. Most satisfying moment: passing two guys blatantly drafting, and successfully fighting the urge to give them the finger. What would you do differently?: Push harder? Training has suffered a bit due to at home projects, so that could be an issue too. Transition 2
Comments: Not much to say here, other than I felt really good coming off the bike. No hangups. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Run
Comments: They seem to have shortened the course from last year, I think it ended up being much closer to a 5K (or I've started running 7 minute miles, not likely). Started having some cramps in the first mile, but they went away. I was a little conservative going out, but once I saw how much closer in the turnaround was, it was a big mental relief and I turned it on coming back. Felt fine and actually passed people, previously unheard of for me. What would you do differently?: Could have pushed a little harder on the outbound leg. Post race
Warm down: Water, gatorade, beer. Rinse and repeat. What limited your ability to perform faster: Deck building in the backyard. Lack of training manifested even more the next day when I rode the Eagleman course. Event comments: Just a really fun race. Much simpler and easier to deal with than races like Columbia. Could be a little more organized, but there's never been anything that wouldn't keep me coming back every year. Course overall was shorter, but still, taking another 14 minutes off of last year's time was nice. Last updated: 2009-04-21 12:00 AM

Stayed with the family in Ocean City to make a weekend of it. Had a bagel and was on the road by 6:45, arrived at the Y around 7:30. Set up transition, and mostly relaxed. It was my third year doing this event so I was pretty comfortable.
Stretched a little, tried to help keep my daighter entertained.
