What would you do differently?: Between mile 9 and 10 I would push harder. After mile 10 before the big hill is a downhill. The end of West Lake there is a stretch of about 1/2 mile with a strong headwind that needs to be pushed through b/c you will not lose much energy and it will really boost you going into the next part of the course (especially the hill). Transition 2
Comments: need to remember where the heck my shoes were. Spent too much time looking where to put my bike. Run
Comments: I thought I was doing so poorly I just went through the motions. I could have run a lot faster. The end of the run was much easier than the beginning. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: Need to really work on the swim. Especially spotting and swimming in a straight line. On the bike I can really fly. I did well comparitively with the best in my category without too much effort. Running I need to incorporate more speed work. Event comments: Beautiful challenging course. It was my first race and it really inspired me. I love Montauk and this is a top notch race. The experienced triathletes felt the same way. Last updated: 2005-07-22 12:00 AM
