Swim
Comments: Water was SO COLD! First time wearing a full wetsuit was...interesting. I was zig-zagging all over the place, never really found a good set of feet to follow...it was just not good at all. What would you do differently?: Work on sighting, BIG TIME. Transition 1
Comments: I must have spent a solid minute sitting on the ground tugging at my wetsuit. My size 14 feet did NOT want to get out of that thing! What would you do differently?: Well, besides actually trying on a wetsuit for the first time the night before a race, invest in some body glide. Bike
Comments: I knew I was well under-trained, so I just maintained a comfortable pace and made sure I got some calories in me (not eating much breakfast was so stupid!). I didn't actually put my shoes on until after I had left transition because of the mud between the racks and the mount line... What would you do differently?: Figure out the whole rubber-band bike shoe thing to save myself a few seconds Transition 2
Comments: Took my sweet time. Knew the run would not be going my way, so I paused to make some small talk with my mom. What would you do differently?: Nothing, really. Run
Comments: Controlled dying, seriously. My legs were on fire, my stomach was a mess, and all I wanted was some gatorade/powerade. Had to stop every half-mile or so to stretch and/or puke up the nasty HEED stuff they were giving out. What would you do differently?: Bring my own beverages, not do an olympic-distance triathlon on little-to-no training... Post race
Warm down: Almost collapsed at the finish line, but after that scarfed down three cups of fruit, two bananas, and a 32 oz. powerade. I then had to hop in my car and drive to the south side of Indy for a dance marathon (standing up for 7 hours straight after an olympic tri and 3 hour car ride=not a good idea), so there was no real warm-down at all. What limited your ability to perform faster: Relative lack of training, poor nutrition, poor mindset. Event comments: Will probably be back next year. Last updated: 2009-04-22 12:00 AM

Made the hour drive from Lake Wawasee to Angola, got there with PLENTY of time. Had a Panera Cinnamon Crunch bagel for breakfast and a bottle of water.
Set everything up, got on the bike for a 10 minute spin, ran for about two miles...nothing too exciting
