Swim
Comments: Great start! Felt good in the first 200 meters. Then I forgot to start sighting for the first bouy and found myself way off course. This happened several times, as a result, I probably swam an extra 150-250 meters for the entire swim course. Because the swim time included the run up the beach to T-1, I am satisfied with my time. This was a great learning experience for the Tempe Intl. Olympic next month. What would you do differently?: I need to practice OWS at least once a week! Transition 1
Comments: T-1 was good. I did had an issue removing my wetsuit (it got stuck on my heel). I had plenty of space to change and got my bike out with no problems. What would you do differently?: Practice removing my wetsuit! Bike
Comments: I thought that I rode faster than my time reflects. I was hoping to avg. between 19.5 and 20 mph for the 16 miles. I can't complain, I had the 4th fastest bike time in my age group. What would you do differently?: I need to do a better job of pacing myself, so I have the stamina to finish the run stronger. Transition 2
Comments: T-2 was good. I put my shoes and visor on and stretched for a few seconds and then I was off! What would you do differently?: Practice put on running shoes after a hard ride. Run
Comments: I started off the run feeling confident. However half a mile into the run I started to have side aches. I tried to run through them, but had to stop and walk to get my heart rate down. I HATE RUNNING!!!!!! I was doing so well up to this point! The highlight of the run was running with my two daughters down the beach through the finish line. Other than that the run was extremely dissapointing! What would you do differently?: I focussed so much time on preparing myself for the swim, that I neglected to work on my run training. I have 4 weeks to try to improve my run before Tempe Intl. Post race
Warm down: Having a beer and cooling off with my my and kids! What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of training for the run. Event comments: I had as great time and learned alot about what I need to improve on for the Tempe Intl. I will be back for this race next year! Last updated: 2009-04-23 12:00 AM

Woke up at 6:00 a.m. and ate a bowl of oatmeal, banana, and a cup of tea. I gathered my tri-bag, bike, and h2o and headed over to Las Palomas @ 6:45. I wanted to make sure I got there early so I could pick a good spot to rack my bike. Made it to the check-in and found a great spot to rack my bike. I had plenty of room to lay out all of my stuff! After I got marked and recieved my chip, I went down to see where the tide was. Tide was pretty calm, so I relaxed and listened to my I-pod as they were setting up the swim course.
At 8:00 I went to the golf course and started to stretch. After stretching, I made my way down to the beach and put my wetsuit on. It was getting warm, so I went to the water to get in before the race started. All of the sprint competitors made there way to the start line. I lined up on the outside and to the right anxiously waiting for the start.
