![]() Swim
Comments: Embarrassing swim. I was shooting for 15-16 minutes, but found myself at the tail end of the men's wave after 100M. At about 350M, I was getting passed by most of the women's wave (started 4 minutes back) it seemed. Was unable to get control of my breathing from the beginning so I ended up doing most of the swim back/breast stroke. What would you do differently?: Get in the pool and train much better and more often. Only had a few training sessions prior to the race and no open water experience. Make sure I am calm and focused before the swim start. Excitement/nervousness probably led to breathing troubles. ![]() Transition 1
![]() Bike
Comments: Felt very good on the bike. Was passing quite a few people due to my slow swim. Would have been faster if not for throwing the chain twice. Had to stop and repair it quickly both times. What would you do differently?: Not much. I'd like to say I would have made sure my bike chain was ok, but I had never thrown a chain before so it was odd doing it twice on race day. ![]() Transition 2
![]() Run
Comments: Felt very good at run. Passed about a dozen people that had started in my wave. Weather and course for the run was great. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Felt confident and comfortable for the run. ![]() Post race
Event comments: Great course, great race. Volunteers were awesome. Good friends to compete with. Last updated: 2009-04-25 12:00 AM

Got up, ate oatmeal and half a cliff bar for breakfast. Picked up friends/fellow competitors and drove to the race. Checked in, set up transition and hung out till start.
Ran half a mile before the swim start to get the blood flowing.
