Swim
Comments: Went out a bit hard as I was trying to avoid going over around more people then last year. But I stayed too far forward and was in a washing machine so I backed off and found more open water. What would you do differently?: Learn to draft would have been possible to follow. Transition 1
Comments: Struggled with putting on the shoes. Need to open the first velcro but still feel my best option at this race is to run across the first lot of gravel before mounting. Lots of folks fixing flats and taking spills due to the loose rocks. What would you do differently?: Open the cycling shoe tongue more. Bike
Comments: MAde conscience effort to not exceed 140 HR and just get what speed I could with that effort. I felt it would get me the best without comprimising my run. So for the first time I felt I was racing and in control, felt good. What would you do differently?: nothing Transition 2
Comments: Feeling more comfortable riding on top of my shoes. Removed feet on 113 before we turned into the parking lot, jumped off at the grass What would you do differently?: take bottle of water for the run Run
Comments: Well I gave myself the best chance of a run as I took it easier on the bike. First mile was good maybe too hard but was able to push through. I am just not a runner so I just have to survive. I was not passed by as many as in the past races so I must have improved or my stregedy payed off. What would you do differently?: learn to run faster Post race
Warm down: walked over to food and streched. Got a gatorade and walked back to T. Checked results to confirm my watch time was accurate and packed up. Took a wonderful shower in the YMCA before departing for home. What limited your ability to perform faster: My run performance is what it is. Definately is my weakness and I just need to work on it. Event comments: Improved on all legs, overall 12 minutes faster then last year. Improved my swim -1:20, T1 -0:15, bike -1:50(but AHR 140 vs 147), T2 -1:18, run -4 minutes for shorter course + -3:10 minutes for running. I think I need to put off the HIM hopes until next year and work on Olympics. Need to race an Olympic as strongly as I did this race before moving on. Last updated: 2009-04-27 12:00 AM

Left the house at 4:15, eat a bagel and iced coffee. Drove to the race site. Arrived 6:30 and took bike to transisiion. Preped T inflate tires, etc. Checked in but had to go back for chip as they were not yet ready. Put on headphones and walked around talking to others. Some interesting stories out there.
