Swim
Comments: This being my first tri, I guess the swim was average. The water was quite cold and since I was in a late wave I had plenty of time to hang out on the beach and get colder. But it was also nice being in a later wave because I got to watch nearly everyone do the swim, which helped calm my nerves (if they all could do it, why couldn't I?) The time includes T1 What would you do differently?: More practice in open water! Invest in a wetsuit. Transition 1
Comments: T1 is included in the swim time Bike
Comments: This was a nice (generally) flat course, there were a few hills, but they were minor. The hairpin turns really killed any momentum that I gained. Time includes T2 What would you do differently?: Drink more, shift more, focus on breathing Transition 2
Comments: T2 included in bike time Run
Comments: I walked a little more than I would have liked, but when I got to the finish my girlfriend said "wow that was fast", and judging by my run rank I was pretty decent. What would you do differently?: Walk less Post race
Warm down: Stretching, blueberry bagel, peach, walk to the train Event comments: I think this was a really good choice for my first tri. The atmosphere was amazing. Last updated: 2009-04-28 12:00 AM

Since I don't drive, I had to take mass transit to the race. I went to bed around 10 the night before, but was so paranoid about not waking up in time that I woke up every 2 hours. The commute was just over an hour, and it gave me time to focus, and get really really nervous. Got to the venue 10 minutes before transition opened. Spent about 15 minutes racking my bike and laying out my things, then rearranging everything 3 or 4 times. Jogged from the swim end to my rack to get a feel for how far to go, I didn't want to miss my rack once things got going. Drank 24oz. Bathroom.
Stretching, jogging from the swim end to my rack a few times, did a bit of yoga to calm myself down
