Swim
What would you do differently?: try to freestyle more, slow steady strokes, but otherwise, I held my own for the first one! Transition 1
Comments: my GOD, the distance from the swim to the bike area was WAY longer than I thought it'd be! I walked most of the way, so that ate my time up. My actual "transition" went well - I opted to NOT do socks in my clip shoes, and once I had those on, I couldn't put on my shorts, so I rode in my swimsuit! What would you do differently?: try to jog a bit more into the transition area - but i was trying to bring my HR down a bit and catch my breath. Bike
Comments: Looking back, I could have done a quicker ride, but I was timid! I passed the obviously slow folks or those I was catching up on, but I didn't pass around anyone in the no-passing zone when I saw lots of others do so. I was just trying to be SAFE, and for it being my first one, and with all the other first-timers, I think I made a good choice, even if it hurt my time a bit. What would you do differently?: Be a little more agressive with a good pace and pass whenever safely possible. Transition 2
What would you do differently?: ACTUAL PRACTICE WITH TRANSITION! der! Run
Comments: I walked most of the course, as briskly as I could. My feet were SCREAMING as I felt they were 2 sizes too small. I think this really affected my effort and ability. I did jog for moments tho, when I felt strong and rested (and for the cameras!) What would you do differently?: Train ahead of time MORE for running - and not put Yanks into my shoes before the race and not test them on the feet while RUNNING first! Another newb mistake! Get the damned body glide ON between my legs! Ouchie, tender thighs! Post race
Warm down: walked around in the corral area, met up with my tri-buds, got some water. What limited your ability to perform faster: SHOES! and overall fitness status! Event comments: I did it!
