  • Comments: Despite being 30 seconds slower this year from last, almost drowning at the swim start, and really suffering on the run; I had fun in a "man, you're a masochist sort of way"!

  • Comments: Great vibe, and a wonderfully welcoming first race. I have so many people to thank for their contribution to my completion of this race that I don't even know where to start. My wonderful husband Mike and my darling children have been my number one cheering section, and more importantly, have put up with missing Mommy while I trained. The work of basically taking the kids on vacation by himself so that I could be with my friends and focus on the race was tough stuff, and Mike pulled it off like the awesome Dad he is. My parents are far in distance but close in my heart, and their pride means more to me now that I am a parent myself than ever before. I adore my official photographer and #1 fans. I can't thank Allison or Mary Sue enough for making the tough call to be without their children on Mother's Day in order to race my first Tri with me. Allison started this whole crazy triathlon thing two years ago, and I am amazed and proud that this, her third race, she beat the rest

  • Comments: I thought this was a disorganized race. First jusat about the only emails about the race were ones trying to get you to buy Sally Edwards' stuff. Less than 1 week in they did send an email about packet pickup and mandatory day before bike racking, but I'm used to marathons and those race directors send out regular updates and aren't you excited emails. In this race director's defense, the webiste was good. Then at packet pickup, I stayed around for the race day overview talk b/c Janice and Carolyn wanted some insight-it was pretty useless as far as tips go; I gave J & C better tips and I had only 1 tri to my name. The race packets did not include any written material, so unless you were around when the announced when your wave was set to go off you would be clueless. All instructions regarding parking, timing chips etc were on the website, but no hard copies (or if there were hard copies they hid them at pick up). As mentioned above, the swim start was disorganized and started late

  • Comments: Danskin is SOOOO good for the ego! When I registered this year, I said it would be my last Danskin race, but I had so much fun this weekend, that I know I'll do it again. I'm really glad they upped the distances to a full sprint and the run course they chose through Ft. Wilderness was great!

  • Comments: If nothing else, this race is great for the ego. Not sure its worth a hotel stay and a day off work though. I would do this race again to keep a friend company, but I don't think I'd schlep it all the way back out here to race alone again.

  • Comments: This race wasn't about me, but it was fun to have the extra bonus of being on Team Toyota - what a treat! The announcer even mentioned it as I came across the finish line. The best best part was my friends who did it for the first time and SUCCEEDED and did GREAT! My other friend and Pilates teacher also placed 6th in her AG - she is amazing. Everyone improved who had done it last year. Disney Danskin is a great but frustrating race because the venue makes it difficult. The packet pickup takes at least 3 hours even if you speed thru it. Getting in and out of the park is time consuming, too. But it's a GREAT first race and good for families since you can make it a vacation.

  • Comments: After the race I saw the 2% girl...I'm pretty sure she won our age group and she thanked me for being such a good rabbit because she never would have had as good a bike ride as she did without me to chase. This is an excellent first timers race. I did it only because the girls wanted me too but I am happy with my result. Things ran late because we had to wait for the sun to come up before we could start the swim. I'm so proud of my girls!!! They both finished strong and have the tri bug!!!

  • Comments: What made this race amazing for me was the team of women I trained with and our awesome coach and his family, and our families who supported us. While I was not so happy with my own mental performance, my physical performance wasn't bad, and was a great improvement over last time. I am still not happy with what Disney does to the Danskin spirit - cutting courses short and having cutoffs, just so they can get the park open and make $$$$. I'd be much happier if we did the Danskin in another city or venue...it's an incredible program and so inspiring to introduce women to the sport!
