Swim
Comments: Felt comfortable, but swam fairly slowly. Went off course once for about 20-25 yards, but recovered well. Got caught by the wave behind us, at least some of the fast swimmers. What would you do differently?: Clearly the lost training time caught up with me. Maybe push a little harder at the midpoint. Felt good the whole time, though. Transition 1
Comments: Initially went to the wrong bike, but figured it out when I couldn't find my helmet. Everything was still pretty wet from the rain. What would you do differently?: Not much. Bike
Comments: The uphill still sucked going out of T1. Played tag with a 32 y.o. woman on the whole bike course. In the end, I beat her in the last mile. Despite the wet course, hit up to 35 mph. What would you do differently?: Again, more T.I.T.S. Especially hill work. Also leave a water bottle off the bike. Didn't need a second bottle, and there were some nice ones being handed off on the course. Transition 2
Comments: Everything was pretty wet, but the socks and shoes stayed fairly dry in the bag I had them in. Went fairly smoothly. Run
Comments: Really sluggish at the outset. Never really felt in the groove as far as pacing. Didn't pass anyone, got passed quite a bit. What would you do differently?: More running practice overall. A few more bricks. Post race
Event comments: Always a well organized race. Great race gifts - got a transition bag this year. Last updated: 2009-05-03 12:00 AM

Got a good night's sleep - going to bed by 9 pm. So getting up at 4 was (relatively) easy. Checked the weather report since it was raining. Rain was going to stop early in the race. Stopped for a bagel and cream cheese on the way. Got to the park by 6, got marked and set up the transition area with some protection from the rain. Met up with Jeff and Joe.
Minimal. The water was nice and warm, so I did a few dozen yards prior to the start.
