  • Comments: Today I saw two things that really stuck with me even after leaving. When I was just getting done my race I saw a guy headng out on the run course with 1 leg. The other was a prostetic (spelling?). The other was a father son team similar to Dick Hoytt and is son. If you have never heard of them, google them and get some tissues ready because there story is overwhelming. Anyway, this man today had a son that was disabled. he built a float to put him in and then tied a rope and harness to the end and swam the entire portion of the swim while pulling his son in the float. Then they built a custom bike with a seat up front and he put the son in the seat and pedalled him thru the entire bike course including those huge hills. Finally he made a high speed wheelchair that he put him in and then went and pushed him thru the run course. At the finish line, he unbuckled the son and picked him up and supported him while the son took the last few steps across the finish line. Talk about a

  • Comments: I didn't have high expectations, since my training has been limited by my knee injury. But I gave this race my all and it felt great. A definate bonus that I shaved nearly 9 minutes off my time from last year. Feels good.

  • Comments: I had an awesome experience and was very pleased with the encouragement I got from some of the racers. I was surprised how good I felt in the last run portion to the point that I said to myself "what's going on here, did Floyd Landis put something in my Cytomax?" I am pleased because I expected to try and survive the run and actually did good for me and I expected to be strong on the bike and I was. Other than that, last year this time (9-9-06) I was having my heart disected for major valve replacement and a pacemaker job. I'll take it. Oh yeah, I won 3rd place.

  • Comments: This was the race of my dreams! It all turned out as I had hoped for me and my brother. Goals: Pass a few people in the swim; Pass a few people on the hills on the bike. Both accomplished. A bonus goal was to try to make it under 2 hours and I did. Very pleased! Oh, I almost forgot to mention that the awesome event organizer PERSONALLY put an ice-water soaked towel around my neck at the finish! (I wondered if I looked THAT pathetic that he felt the need to help me himself...hmmm? ;-)

  • Comments: Great park, great roadway for the bike, a little crowded on the run trail (mostly people running in while I was "running" out). I want to come back and give it a go again next year. I have to work on my bike skills, and now have a goal and a year to get ready.

  • Comments: This was the first race I came in top three of my age group. It was a great accomplishment for me and it shows that training is paying off. I never in my wildest dreams would have thought I would I would be getting a podium finish in my first year of triathlon. I love this sport and I love everyone involved in it. Its a great family to be a part of. I am just really happy and I feel great about myself.

  • Comments: Race seemed well run, to a newbie. Definitely a great location and great weather. They need to add a megaphone or PA down at the swim start as the commands and wave announcements were hard to hear. Overall this was a great event and a terrific effort by all involved in running it.

  • Comments: Meeting Dan and his wife was great. He is as nice as he is fast. the sky is the limit for him. I expect BT will see big things from in the not to distant future. I was also really impressed w/ this RD and venue. Only it's second year and first at Lake Nokamixon. What a venue, beautiful lake, closed roads for the bike and a flat scenic, shaded run. Well orgnaized too. My only knock is they didn't have as much water as advertised and cuda used it given the heat. Definately recommned it and I will go back. Overall a good training day, not necessarily a great race day. Nontheless, I had fun, learned a lot about myself and met another BT'r (that's always nice). An eye opener and good final tune up for Timberman. I've still got work to do.

  • Comments: The Race itself was good. Had a closed course for the bike, lots of officals on the bike, but none that I saw on the run. Lots of give-aways and lots of food afterwards. The sweatshirt that you got with your race packet...LORD! I think a homeless mass in Boston in January would have turned it down. It was hideous. I think if you want people to promote your race by wearing your race shirt and having people ask about it, make it so that they WANT to wear it.

  • Comments: Despite the tough run and the shift of start time, I thought they did an outstanding job especially considering it was a first annual event. Close to 700 people with the sprint and OLY races. Good food (didn't run out for us in the OLY race), great set of volunteers, tough but fair course (Great lake for swimming, the start time shift even saved us from too much heat, great prerace packet (with pictures) accurately showed you what to expect and a sweatshirt vice a T-shirt. Firefightes with the ice towels and spraying down finishers were great. Only complant, get more potta potties, 7 for 700 folks doesn't cut it.
