Swim
Comments: I started the swim WAY to hard.....once I eased up a little and started 3-stroke breathing I did much better. What would you do differently?: RELAX....Relax.....relax.......i get out of breath running into the lake and have no air for the start of the swim. Transition 1
Comments: My zipper on my wetsuit broke! i had to rip the damned thing off to get it off of me. Drying off and getting my shoes on went well, albeit a little slow. What would you do differently?: Get a better wetsuit! Bike
Comments: The bike course was a nightmare. Over 50% of the course was spent climbing hills, and any relief from a downhill we got was negated by having to make sharp turns. What would you do differently?: Spend more time training for hills. Transition 2
Comments: Not too bad again....shoes came off/on with no problem. I am shocked I was in the transition as long as i was. What would you do differently?: remove bike shoes before i get off bike Run
Comments: Tough run after the bike segment, but I was expecting that. What would you do differently?: Run more often. Post race
Warm down: Walked in circles till I was dizzy and fell down. Then I stretched and walked around some more. After a bit of a walk I went and got some post - race food....a HUGE burrito and a couple of oreos...yum. What limited your ability to perform faster: There were several factors I was not prepared for. The swim was VERY dirty making it hard to draft or even sight. The bike was a nightmare...the hills were difficult and my bike only has 2 chainrings meaning those hills were that much harder. The run was as hard because my legs were toast after the bike. Event comments: I defintely have improved overall as my swim and run times have come down since the last race 2 weeks ago. This race I did feel much better on the swim because I was able to relax a little more and get into a 3-stroke instead of 2. The bike was very difficult for me and I think I need to get a triple crankset on my bike to replace the double. The run was especially hard after that bike, but I was still able to shave a couple minutes off my time. As I lose more weight I will ramp up my running a little more and hopefully make the run portion a little easier. Last updated: 2005-07-28 12:00 AM
