Swim
Comments: Pretty decent swim for me - I know it won't break any records but I averaged under 2 minutes per 100/yards, so I was really happy with that, especially after my results last week. Can't really get the age group rankings by splits without doing a whole bunch of data manipulation....and I'm too lazy for that. :) What would you do differently?: Not much, lots of room for technique improvement, so hopefully can get that done this summer. :) Transition 1
Comments: I definitely need to practice this - had a hard time getting my bike shoes on, which cost me a few seconds. What would you do differently?: Learn to fasten my shoes to the bike and run in my socks till I get on and up to speed. Practice! Bike
Comments: Oddly, thought I'd be a little faster than this. I was a full mile/hour slower on the 9mile course than when I did this same course last year, but 4 laps instead of 2. Had a little problem shifting a couple of times, pretty sure my front derailleur cable has stretched out and needs to be tightened, and was something funny going on where I'd shift and it wouldn't "catch" right away, just sorta spin like my chain had dropped (it hadn't). What would you do differently?: Make sure bike was 100% race ready, push harder. I definitely didn't climb as well as I wanted to. Transition 2
Comments: Better transition, still need to get faster. What would you do differently?: Practice..practice....practice..... Run
Comments: My first mile wsa 7:35 or so, if the sign was in the right place, so I definitely faded some after that. Didn't feel too bad, just not quite as fast as a I wanted to be, kinda like the bike segment. What would you do differently?: Just general fitness, spend more time running in the world and less on the treadmill, hill workouts especially. Post race
Warm down: Powerade, banana till I caught my breath. Some light stretching, and then the 15-20 minute walk back to the parking area. What limited your ability to perform faster: General fitness issues, just need to get in better shape. Dropping some more weight would help too. :) Event comments: It's the corporate challenge, so it's a nice, relaxing atmosphere where people are having fun. Several of the first swim waves were late as they waited for stragglers to get to the beach, heard the du was late too. Still, had a good time, got to meet some new people and see some old friends at the same time. Last updated: 2009-05-05 12:00 AM
