Swim
Comments: I had a good strong swim. The time was fast for me, and I now know that I can really improve, since I felt so good and was going faster than normal. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Transition 1
Comments: T1 went well, but due to the cold wet conditions, it took a while to get my jacket on and that slowed me down. What would you do differently?: Take my jacket in to the pool area with me and put it on while running to the bike. This would have saved me about 30sec! Bike
Comments: Bike was cold and wet. Into the wind on the way out and mostly with it on the way back. What would you do differently?: Push harder. I know I could have picked up the pace a bit, but was worried about smoking my legs for the run. Drink less gatorade, and dilute it more. Transition 2
Comments: Went to the wrong side of the rack. Had to duck under the rack to get to my stuff. I also do not have T2 times as the race did not record them, so it is included in my run time. What would you do differently?: Go the correct way, and record my times with my watch. Run
Comments: Side stitch in the first .5mi. I believe this is due to the gatorade being too strong on the bike. What would you do differently?: Run a little harder at the start. The second half felt MUCH better than the first half. Post race
Warm down: Walked around catching my breath from the 100yd all out sprint to the finish. What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of run training (due to foot injury this spring) and just coming off of a cold. I was snotting all over myself on the bike...thank God it was raining and washing it all off of me ;) Event comments: I don't have any other events to go off of, but the race check-in took a little longer than it should have. The pre-race meeting was supposed to happen at 7:45, but it didn't go until about 8:15. There was not enough room in the transition area for all the bikes, and the whole transition area was full of little pebbles and even a spot with broken glass (that we brought to attention and had cleaned up) The Godfather's pizza buffet was too full for my friends to bother messing with taking their kids into. We also did not get our results until today (Monday). Sending out race numbers in the mail ahead of time, and telling you where they want you to have marks on you would ELIMINATE the check in process. Overall, it was a fun time though, and I will do it again next year. ;) Last updated: 2009-05-06 12:00 AM

Up at 4:30am, drive 2hrs to Norfolk, eat a PB&J whole wheat begal and some ovaltine on the way. I don't have a routine since this was my first race. The begal was good but very hard to get down. I just was NOT hungry at all.
Took stuff to transition, checked in and got inked, hang out, bathroom, hang out, bathroom, double check transition, swim a bit, GO!
