Swim
Comments: Was so worried I forgot to do an equipment check before swim thus as i got in water and pulled my goggles down "snap" they came unthreaded just as the "10 seconds to start" was made. shoved them in my wetsuit and tried to swim blind. Without the googles i lost some composer and set of too fast leading me to get tired very quickly and panic when i saw i was not to the first bouy yet. Being blind also made my navigation suffer as spotting was very tough. about 150m in i rolled to my back where i could breathe and navigate better but still went crooked a lot. swam almost entire thing on my back and spent a lot of energy i needed for bike. What would you do differently?: Pre race equipment check not just do i have it but is it set and ready to go. More swimming and more open water work too. better stroke management to much legs when arms we not tired. Transition 1
Comments: Purposly went slower to make sure went smooth. also needed to recompose after swim. Everything went great for first tri race. What would you do differently?: pick up pace from swim to bike i could have gone faster but did not want to rush through. Just need to go faster next time. Bike
Comments: needed to push a little harder here. Did have a pedal clip fall off and drag after turn around. again with the faliure to check all equipment before race. helmet also was tight and may have been bumped in bag tightening it up a little. made small error in navigation as i read a 5km sign and thought 5 miles turn around should be close and got worried an slowed a bit until i realized my mistake thinking i had passed my turnaround. What would you do differently?: Check all gear before race did safty check but not pedal clips or helmet fit. Push more at start. Transition 2
Comments: again slow due to focus on right not fast. I made no attempt to do either transitions fast concetrating on finishing the first tri. What would you do differently?: just spped up nothing different just do it quicker Run
Comments: Running is most difficult for me but just wanting to finish my first one run was more walk than naything else. could have pushed harder but was not worring about time at this point just enjoying day. What would you do differently?: More run training as this is most difficult area for me still. push harder to go longer before walking Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: This was first tri so concetration was on finishing regardles off time. Event comments: Will be back next year to improve. Great location and course.
