Overall Rank = 437/490

Age Group Rank = 21/22
Pre-race routine:

Left home at about 5:00 am, and got to park just before 6:00. Ate a banana and had some oj before I left. Got set up in transition about 6:45 and hung out with wife until start of race.
Event warmup:

Did some light jogging and then got in the lake and swam just a bit.
Swim
  • 08m 26s
  • 250 yards
  • 10s / 100 yards
Comments:

Swim started a little late because of lighting and thunder in the distance. Started raining before I got in the water. Athough a poor swim in my opinion, it was probably the best I've ever done in a tri. I did much more free style and much less breast stroke than previously.
What would you do differently?:

Learn to swim a straight ling and learn to sight better. Be more agressive.
Transition 1
  • 04m 25s
Comments:

It had rained pretty hard so most of my stuff was wet. Hard time getting my socks on.
What would you do differently?:

Cover my socks and running shoes if it looks like rain.
Bike
  • 58m 52s
  • 13 miles
  • 13.25 mile/hr
Comments:

Had to run up steps from the beach to transition, and this evidently tightened up my quads pretty bad. As soon as I started peddeling, I could tell that they were tight and I had a hard time getting started and up to speed. The rain kept me from going to fast down hills, so I ended up passing this one guy about six times up hills then he'd pass me going down.
What would you do differently?:

Not sure what I would have done differently. Pretty much used up the appropriate amount of energy on the bike.
Transition 2
  • 02m 16s
Comments:

Went pretty good.
Run
  • 35m 13s
  • 3 miles
  • 11m 44s  min/mile
Comments:

Well, it was what it was. I'd only put in about 40 miles of training since I started running again in February, so I did about what I expected to do. Had a good time waving at people and such.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Post race
Warm down:

None. Just wanted to get out of the rain.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I just need more preperation.

Event comments:

Team Magic does a pretty good job. Thought it went well.
