Run
Comments: As always, started out a bit too quick. I did hold back enough to keep out of the front group which was a good thing. It wasn't until about 1½ miles in where I finally pulled back to my pacing. What would you do differently?: Hold back at the start and have more even pacing through the run. My pace ranged from a 6:48 to a 10:20... too much variablity. Transition 1
Comments: coming into transition, I had unzipped by running jacket to take it off for the bike. Forgot to complete that simple task. What would you do differently?: Take off my running jacket. Get some yanks for my running shoes. Bike
Comments: Out of a good transition, to 30 secs. later realizing I forgot to take off the running jacket... too late, zipped it up tight and kept pushing forward. Nice little "training" device. Easily impacted my power by 10-25 watts for the course. What would you do differently?: NOT forget to take off the run jacket... Sort of like finishing the swim and hoping on the bike with your wet suit on... what an Idiot I felt like!!! Transition 2
Comments: FINALLY got my running jacket off for the last run! Run
Comments: I was pleased... only took me about a minute to get my running legs back. And I know this is a bit sad, bur for me, it was the first time doing this race where I didn't walks some portion of the last mile!!! What would you do differently?: Nothing much other that continue to lose weight and get in better shape! Post race
Warm down: walked and drank more of the race Infinite blend (Robb's Silverman blend) What limited your ability to perform faster: Conditioning, stupidity (running jacket) Event comments: As always, Gear West puts on a great race with some great talent! Last updated: 2009-05-17 12:00 AM

Nothing specific for this race, it is about 5 minutes from home, so easy drive in, set up the bike in transition etc. Found some friends and chatted for a while. Had some of my Infinite pre-race about 30 mins. before the start.
The night before, filled the water bottles etc. Decided with such a short race, no need to go with any significant nutrition on the ride. I did take along a flask of EFS and that ended up being a good decision.
Nothing too much, a quick run... headed to the dirt since the majority of the run is on the dirt for this one... uneven surface etc.
