Run
Transition 1
Comments: In T1 I forgot to put my bike gloves on and scarf a gel. I also forgot to switch modes on my Garmin until I was about 2 miles into the bike, so I wasn’t able to get my true splits for my logbook. Bike
Comments: It was really hard to see during the ride because of the rain. Next time I’m forced to ride in the rain, I am going to try and put some rainX on my lenses to see if that helps the water runoff instead of sticking and making it impossible to see. If anyone reads this and you have any suggestions on that as well as a way to keep the sweat out of your eyes (other than wearing a sweat band)? Transition 2

Comments: Coming out of T2 into the run, I didn’t have any problem with my legs starting the 2nd run, but I could tell my heart rate was WAY too high. I had to stop and walk for a bit after about a half mile just to get my heart rate down. I’ll have to work on that. Post race
Event comments: I did the race in 1:24:52. I'm pleased with that. I was hoping to finish in under 90 minutes. I even passed some people on the bike, finished 60/70 in men’s, and 73/103 overall. I was last 12/12 in my age group, but I was pretty much anticipating that. All things considered I’m pleased with my times. Even after having three chicken sandwiches following the race, and eating a normal lunch; I felt like I was starving all day long after the race. I'm not too sore today, although my quads are aware they did some work yesterday. Last updated: 2009-05-18 12:00 AM

It was a dark and stormy night, which resulted in a drizzly dreary race morning.
I wasn’t looking forward to riding in the rain. This would only be the third time I’d ridden a bike for any kind of distance since I was in High School. I did remember a few things though, but I was still nervous.
1. Puddles hide potholes, avoid puddles.
2. Slow down on corners, the road is slick.
3. You don’t stop very quickly with wet rims and brakes.
