Swim
Comments: I seeded myself about 30 or 45 seconds faster than I should of which caused me a bit of anxiety as I didn't want to slow the swimmers behind me. So I took off a bit harder than I should have. As it turned out only 2 people passed me and the 3rd behind me was more than a length and a half behind when I got out. 14 seconds slower than last year. What would you do differently?: IDK, swim more? Transition 1
Comments: Thought I had a good transition! The only thing that might have slowed me down some was throwing on the long sleeve shirt. What would you do differently?: Not sure on this one either. 8 seconds slower than last year! Bike
Comments: Took off and settled into a nice pace (apparently too nice). Stayed aero for most of the ride. Worked on spinning up the hills and pushing the flats and down hills. Passed a fair number of mountain bikes, passed by some strong cyclist. Played leap frog with a girl that would grunt by my on the uphills and I would pass on the down hills. Dropped the chain with about 2 miles to go, but that doesn't explain being 3:40 slower than last year. What would you do differently?: I need to haul 30 pounds less around the course and get more seat time. I averaged 189 watts and max was 689 so I was working hard enough I guess. Transition 2
Comments: I almost went over the handle bars going into transition. I had unclipped the right foot and as I was approaching the line I hit the front brake a bit aggressively. Fortunately I made what could have been a disaster look like I meant to do it. I did launch one of my water bottles! I guess other than putting socks on, I don't know what made this so slow. What would you do differently?: HTFU and run without socks. Run
Comments: Took off out of transition and felt pretty good. Tried pushing the pace, but with no mile markers and only a few people around I had no point of reference. After the last uphill it is pretty much down hill or flat to the finish, I think it was probably my fastest mile, but as I thought I was faster than I was all day, I can't say for sure. What would you do differently?: More running, where the Garmin, improve the bike fitness, and lose the weight!!! Post race
Warm down: Cleaned out transition and hung around with Jackie and Kam until Rob came in, and we all waited for awards. Kam and Jackie both got nice hardware!!! Congrats guys!! What limited your ability to perform faster: Nothing more than I mentioned above! I can't say that I was totally surprised by the results, but I was hoping to be closer to last years 1:27:XX. Event comments: Well run race. The bike had 2 aid stations and the run had 4 this year so it is well supported. Last updated: 2009-05-19 12:00 AM

I had everything but the bike loaded up the night before, so it was just load the bike and head to the race site. Got there in plenty of time and got a decent spot near the run exit.
My coffee was warm, does that count? Other wise just a couple of short laps in the diving pool.
