Pre-race routine:

Ate breakfast, made sure was hydrated well all week
Swim
  • 24m 6s
  • 880 yards
  • 02m 44s / 100 yards
Comments:

Great swim, was slower than training due to slower swimmers that were doing the breast stroke and kicking me in the ribs. Also got a blow to the head with a foot that messed me up, but once got into my own water space was good.
What would you do differently?:

Would start out ahead of other swimmers in my wave and stick to the outside of lane and not get caught up in the middle.
Transition 1
  • 03m 58s
Comments:

still new to sport, I have to completely stop to get on my bike and get going and I am already in my clip on shoes.
What would you do differently?:

Work on getting on and off the bike faster.
Bike
  • 48m 2s
  • 12 miles
  • 14.99 mile/hr
Comments:

Love the bike leg. So great to ride with women only. Every very inspiring and courteous.
What would you do differently?:

Work on hill training
Transition 2
  • 02m 34s
Comments:

Had bad accident on my bike during training where sprained ankle getting off bike and still very unsure of myself, so I have to stop slowly and get off bike.
What would you do differently?:

practice getting on and off bike.
Run
  • 38m 37s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 12m 28s  min/mile
Comments:

WOW, what can I say, the worse run I have ever done. Did not know that run was not on paved road. Had to slow down due to terrain and concerns of twisting ankle that had been injured on bike accident several months earlier. Also, due to running in trees the air was still and hot, I was having difficulty keeping cool.
What would you do differently?:

Will most certainly train for off road running, wear trail running shoes, train in hotter parts of day due to heat issue due to trees!
Post race
Warm down:

walked around and talked to ppl, got food and drink

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Issues getting on and off bike, issues with swimmers swimming the breast stroke for a race and getting kicked in the ribs and head! (that was just weird) and the unexpected off road terrain for the 5k

Event comments:

Love this race, will do again at some point.
