  • Comments: I love that Danskin is an all women. It is a great energy and a wonderful place for women to do there first tri. But, each year the numbers have been getting smaller and I think there is a reason for that. The lack of volunteers was significant. At each water stop there were only 2-3 people handing out water (and it is a crowded course). They did away with the expo this year and you had to pick up your race packet and rack your bike at Decker the day before (option to do it morning off too). Post-race was certainly lacking. This is an expensive race, but not any extras in this department. You got your goodie bag after the race - which was a bag, your shirt, and then some packaged snacks (cookies/crackers), bananas (no other fruit). No drinks or other food. There were some food and drinks you could pay for, but it was fairly sad post-race set-up. Last year there was chocolate milk, ice cream, oranges, and water bottles when you finished - all missing this year. I was also disappointed

  • Comments: So knowing I had won 1st AG, we waited around for the awards, saw no tables with medals being set up, nothing. Finally we wandered back towards the finish line and they were giving out awards... there was hardly anyone there! By the time I got there they were calling 45-49, so I made it just in time. Got to have my picture taken with Michellie Jones, pro triathlete! No medal, but a certificate with a voucher for a FREE race entry next year on any of their race series.... this one cost $95 so pretty nice! This is the 3rd time I have raced this venue and what an improvement! First 2 times were in 2008: #1: 1:42:43 #2: 1:40:51 Today: 1:33:43 (over 7 minutes FASTER!!) I was almost 4 minutes faster than the second place AG finisher... yeah, I pretty much had an AWESOME race!!!!!

  • Comments: The Danskin Triathlon is said to be great for beginners. Well, yes and no. As far as support, volunteers, people cheering for you: Yes, Yes, Yes great for beginners. But the course itself at least in Austin is difficult especially for a beginner. That said, I am glad I participated and I will probably do it again next year.

  • Comments: It was organized well, but I guess i'm spoiled from my first tri experience with High-Five Events. We had to body mark ourselves and the transition area at racking the day before was not being monitored (non athletes were going in/out). It may have been from a lack of available volunteers. And there was no beer. :( But overall, it was a fun experience and the swim volunteers at the start were very encouraging and pumping us girls up. They did have a ton of swim support in the form of "swim angels", which came in handy for some who got scared/off rhythm.

  • Comments: Did this as a relay in 2003. Noticed a definite deficiency in Volunteers. Felt badly for the real first-timers. Plus the fact they were going to start the awards at 10:00 before the last finisher crossed the line seemed strange to me considering the kind of event it is. Technical tee's were nice, if you < 130 lbs. Seriously... the xxl's were like mediums. No on-site handicapped parking either..

  • Comments: Volunteers were awesome. I would not have been able to finish the race without them. I loved the course but I think that the race was very crowded.

  • Comments: This was my first Tri so I can't compare with others but I enjoyed every minute - even the 36 mins I spent in my very long, long private tour of the lake. It was a big challenge to complete in the time I thought I could do. My goal was under 2 hours - I made it in 2:09. I will do it again and improve my time and strategy during parts of the race next year. Thanks to hubby Greg, Sharon, Becky, Judy, Janice, Gabe, Ron, swim classmates, and others for the encouragement. It is fun (and hard) to be fit but worth every mile.

  • Comments: This was just a fun race for me since I hadn't done a triathlon since last October and have been so incredibly uninspired to train lately. It made me think I want to sign up for another one!

  • Comments: Danskin was one of my first tris and it holds a special place in my heart. My first Danskin was in 2001 which I did in 1:52 then again in 2006 in 1:46 so I took off 17 minutes which I'm very proud of and I was 10th in my age group!

  • Comments: So I did the course about 2 minutes faster than the Trek Tri. Should have been more than that if I didn't totally suck at the run. I was very happy with the swim and bike. For the whole race I was top 13% in AG and top 15% overall! Imagine what I could do when my run gets better!

  • Comments: tough course - makes the CapTex look easy, almost like a luxury race in comparison. I enjoyed the captex much more - better swag - better post race - but the vibe of the all woman race was great as was the pep talk and high-five at the end. The road stinks for the bike race - I thought my fillings were going to vibrate out.

  • Comments: Lots of spectator support. Nice to have Sally Edwards there to start race. Wish I had stayed to watch last racer come in and to cheer them on. Nice to have family support. Definitely want to do this again.
