Swim
Comments: Had a good swim. I did a better job than last week of not coming out too fast. I started towards the front of the pack which was a good move. I didn't have too much contact with other people which was great, but was in the mix of other swimmers a lot of the time. Also did a lot better job not veering of the course when heading to the first buoy. What would you do differently?: Wouldn't change much, I think I pushed it pretty hard in the water and did a great job spotting/swimming straight overall. Not perfect, but pretty good. Transition 1
Comments: T1 did not go as well as last week at all! Came out of the water fine, had a slight problem finding my bike (there was another red bike a few down from mine that I got mixed up with briefly), but did have a problem getting my wetsuit over my chip. Also, did not do a good job at all getting my feet into my shoes. The mounting area was on a up high and I had my bike in too high of a gear. My shoes scraped a few times and just had trouble overall with getting my feet in quickly. What would you do differently?: Have my bike in a lower gear and get my feet in better/quicker Bike
Comments: Had a good ride. I did a lot better job of going to higher gears on the hills than I did when I practice the course on Friday. But there still seemed to be more hills than I remember. Nonetheless, very happy with my ride. What would you do differently?: The only complaint I have is with my cornering. There were a few sharp turns along the way and I didn't handle them all that well. Need to improve on that. Transition 2
Comments: Awesome T2! Must better than last time and I actually remembered to take my helmet off, LOL! I jumped of the bike still going quite fast. Actually the volunteers were telling me to slow down and I don't think they were too happy with me. Love the new Zoots. Its nice not wearing socks. I was undecided if I should wear them or not because I hadn't ran in them yet, but it was definitely right decision. What would you do differently?: Nothing! Run
Comments: Pretty happy with the run overall, but it needs to be faster. When I ran the course Friday, I went a different way in the woods and did probably an extra 1/3 - 1/2 mile in the woods. I was expecting that so I held back a little more than I would have if I knew the actual course. What would you do differently?: Faster! I still had some left in the tank at the end of the race. Like I said above, the course being a little different than I expected which threw me off a little, but I was still happy with the run overall. The Zoots felt terrific, no blisters or irritation so that was great. Post race
Warm down: Walked to the bottom of the hill to wait for Grace and my Dad. Grace came through first so I ran a little with her. She was going great so I only ran an 1/8 of a mile or so with her. After that, I went back to the bottom of the hill and waited for my Dad. He was doing well when he got to me, but I ran the last half mile with him. It was a nice cool down for me and I think it helped him a little. What limited your ability to perform faster: Don't think there were any limitations. I was really happy with my performance. Event comments: Awesome Race! Great crowd, weather, and just a great event in general. It was awesome for me to have Dad doing it (His first at age 57!). It was also my first sprint distance race so it was nice to do that distance. Got 3rd overall in my age group so it was great to get on the podium in my second triathlon ever. Definitely have a long way to go, but I'm really happy with this event. Last updated: 2009-05-19 12:00 AM

Got up, had a protein bar with orange juice, loaded up the car, and took the short ride to Littleton. Once we got there, setup my bike, etc. at transition area.
Did a quick run and some light stretching. Actually didn't feel all that great during the warm up run, but it didn't seem to matter during the race. Also did a quick swim to loosen up just prior to the start of the race.
