Swim
Comments: This rocked my freaking world, I swear. It ended up being the best part of the race. To think I couldn't even swim at all four months ago!! I did a lot more backstroke than I expected, and alternated with breaststroke. Very little free.I finished this part with a big dumb grin on my face...everyone clapped. I almost cried I was happy. And the best part was when some saintly volunteer unzipped my wetsuit without being asked...he'll never know how much that meant. What would you do differently?: Work on free so I feel more comfortable with it. Remember to pee either in the water or right before the swim... Transition 1
Comments: The transition area to clip in was really small so that kind of sucked. I took my time during this because I was so happy that the swim was over. Also choked down part of a gel, and coughed the rest up. What would you do differently?: Maybe go a little faster, but I was euphoric so it didn't really matter. Bike
Comments: I had to pee SO bad...thought serioulsy about high tailing it to the bushes. What would you do differently?: Get a road bike more than 1 week before my next tri. :) Do some longer rides and get a female seat. Transition 2
Comments: Well I had to take a major leak so I stopped at the porta potty. Oh well...I was so happy that I was 2/3 done it dind't matter. :) I also choked down a little more gel with tons of gatorado so I woudn't puke it up. What would you do differently?: Pee sometime beforehand. Run
Comments: Two people passed me and said Wow you're a great pacer! To which I replied "Slow but steady..." We think I did about a 10 minute pace, which, if you look at my most recent 5k, is awesome because I did about an 11 minutes then, and here I had 2 more events under my belt! I felt really good, except at the end just for a second something snapped in my knee and I verbally yelled out "SHIT" when it happened. But I did get to pass about 6 people at the end because I had enough left to kick on the downhill. What would you do differently?: Go faster. Eventually. Someday. Maybe. Post race
Warm down: Walked the mile to the car. And damn did it hurt. What limited your ability to perform faster: Nothing! I did my best and felt AWESOME about this race! I am feeling so proud of myself right now...it's amazing. Can't wait to sign up for #2. I am so happy that I did it, physically, and I realize how positive I was the whle time...very exciting. Event comments: I had a freaking blast and thank you to all BT'ers who volunteered. You made a huge difference!. Last updated: 2005-08-07 12:00 AM

Ate a big breakfast at about 5:30am. Paced around like a nervous animal, met the folks I racked my bike near--they were so friendly. Did some more nervous pacing. Drank a crapload of Gatorade and pooped not once but twice.
I ran for about 30 seconds, did some stretching. I was freaking out a lot so my HR was going nuts.
