Swim
Comments: I felt I swam good for the first open water swim with people all around, I think I got too comfortable and swam it like a half Ironman. This was my first Olympic tri and I just paced too slow. I was spot on with navigation by far my best sitting effort. What would you do differently?: picked it up and swam a lot harder just don't get so comfortable. Transition 1
Comments: I was ok as far as t1 goes didn't rush and went without socks on the bike, had a little problem with the wetsuit stuck to the ankle chip What would you do differently?: nothing not a bad T1 Bike
Comments: started off my legs felt stiff and we were going into a slight headwind about 7-10mph I was pushing it to hold 20mph, the next 5 miles we had the wind and I was riding between 24-26mph, the last 2.5 had two hills the first was very steep I only managed 7 mph up it, then the second hill we climbed the dam and I only rode about 11mph the kicker there is no down hill to help your average out after the climb so I sure that mile was about 14 mph average. We then headed back into transistion and turned around for the second loop, and I rode about the same. I rode ok but should have pushed it more once again I got comfortable and rode like a half Ironman. What would you do differently?: push the pace a little more never really made myself hurt. Transition 2
Comments: good transistion once again did not rush things and everything went smoothly, it was nice that there was only 2 other bikes on the rack it gave me plenty of space to change shoes and put on socks What would you do differently?: nothing Run
Comments: felt pretty good, first mile 7:36 then a string of 7:40-44's didn't stop at any water stops just grab and go, had 3 guys in my age group pass me which usually doesn't happen, but I was just in hold my pace mode. I really wanted to see if this was a pace I could hold in heat for 13.1 miles and I think I can. What would you do differently?: run a little harder there is no doubt that I could have picked it up about :20 seconds a mile, but being a "C" race for me I wanted to stay fresh for the next few weeks of training. This was more of a testing session for me. Post race
Warm down: walked into the lake and stood waist deep for about 20 minutes the 68 degree water felt great What limited your ability to perform faster: heat Event comments: this is the second time I have done an HFP Tri event and I must say I'm not impressed. Both times the event was delayed for packet pick up, the water on the course was brown or rust color not sure if they didn't just grab it from the lake. Last updated: 2009-05-24 12:00 AM

woke up at a couple english muffins with honey drank water and drove from my brothers house about 1 hr away
long lines at the packet pick up didn't allow me to warm up much I had to rush everything into transistion and I headed down to the water and swam about 100 yards.
