  • Comments: This race was fun, and as I slowly, climb up the ranks in these races they just become more and more exciting. I don't know what I will do if I ever actually reach a podium, because just having the fastest bike split sent through the roof! I can't wait for the next race.

  • Comments: Great job by HFP! The race was organized well like I've come to expect from HFP. Could have had better communication on the swim course as it was a bit confusing, but this year, they stepped up their game as the packet pickup line was quick and the results were posted same day. Plus the weather was great.

  • Comments: HFP does a great job with organization and logistics. As always, a well run race. One negative: I usually don't care about the race shirts as they aren't a deal breaker with a race, but the shirts for this race (with a patch on them!?!?), are unwearable for training or almost anything (It's non absorbent so I can't even use it as a rag).

  • Comments: I finished 17/23 in my AG last year and was hoping to be in the top half of my AG this year. Turns out that I was 4th in my AG and only missed the 3rd place medal by 39 seconds. The worst thing is that I remember the guy passing me on the last mile and thinking to myself there is no reason to push any harder since what was the difference between 10th and 9th place!! Not a mistake I will make again. This was a great tune up race and transition practice for my IM coming up!

  • Comments: HFP racing did I nice job with the race. I was nervous, and they put my worries to rest. Lots of pre race announcements, lots of volunteers, and the online information was accurate. Great race.

  • Comments: Having the Girls Tri race first was an aggrevation. HFP puts on quality no frills events for the price. My performance in the run was all that mattered and it didn't go well so, it was not a good race for me. It was nice to see the BT crew.

  • Comments: HFP runs a race called "girls tri too". Previous to this year it was held on the Saturday preceeding so first time women are not intimidated/grossed out by so many spandex dudes (I agree). This year they stacked a this race on top of a Spint and Olympic race. They had the new race preceed the race which moved transition clearing time up, made transition extra crowded and generally confused the majority of the race participants. Not a good call Post race food options were very limited. I was to pick from orange slices, chips and pretzels and warm well water. No cold pop, sports drinks or solid food. They were selling those items this year. Funny thing is I DONT CARRY CASH in my trishorts. If you saved cash by combining the races dont cut even more on the food. DavidTris is a punk for his no show with the whiskey prerace. I blame my performance on him. This race was a great ego smothering opening to the season. Plenty to work on. This is almost 10 minures slower than my OLY PR (and

  • Comments: I like this race, but was a bit let down by my performance. Last year I was really competitive in the sprint distance, but I learned a lot and look forward to my next olympic and am already thinking about the next race!

  • Comments: The boy scouts were great! Such a big help. This is the quietest race ever. It's easy to get lulled into thinking you're training instead of racing. Also, first time with all liquid nutrition. It worked well, but I had worries with all the stomach issues I have had of late. It must just be what I have been eating.

  • Comments: I was glad the race didn't get cancelled. I had a blast racing and talking to everyone. It was nice to finally meet the Hohls and Btoes. NOTE: I deducted the 7 minutes from my run time and adjusted my overall time from what was listed in the official race results.

  • Comments: I like the course (except when it rains or is windy :) ) Cons: Stupid bike - I fear I shall never be a competent biker, the rainstorm and resultant winds, no chow left over by the time I wandered down to the food shack. Pros: Set a personal course record, raised over 1300$ to help diabled children ride modified bikes, raced in a sparkly pink speedo (without any injuries to my man bits - I was fearing the worst and I can assure everyone that was worried that Frank and the Beans are OK). The run time was pretty good considering the wind and being sick. I felt like I "did" this event rather than "raced" it. Hoepfully the health and the training will come together at some later race. I will accomplish my goals for the year - just not today I guess.

  • Comments: this is the second time I have done an HFP Tri event and I must say I'm not impressed. Both times the event was delayed for packet pick up, the water on the course was brown or rust color not sure if they didn't just grab it from the lake.

  • Comments: This was my second Olympic Tri. I am not one of the elite atheletes. By the time I finished they were breaking down the transition area. This was not the case in my first and it's not because I was faster then! Kind of bush league.

  • Comments: Some interesting things happened after I finished. I went to get some food after packing up Jeremy’s and my transition spots. I stopped by the Race for a Cure tent Emerson and his family had set up and grabbed a cupcake. They were delicious. The cake was very moist and they had tons of frosting. I scarfed it down and headed out to the post race food tent. I was loading up my plate with chips, cookies pretzels and other junk food (but no fruit) when I looked up and saw Lora manning the food table. We talked for a bit. Then she said, “here, let me get you a napkin.” I thanked her and stuffed it in my pocket. Then she said, “um, you might want to wipe your face.” I had a huge glob of icing on my face. Yes Lora, now you know I’m a slob. How embarrassing. The awards ceremony was going on a few feet away. I didn’t bother to go over because I wanted to get back and see how Jeremy was doing, plus I’m not fast enough to place. A few minutes later Lora comes running up to me holding a medal and

  • Comments: Good race to do. Not bad. Not awesome...but good. Needed more people at the water stops. Needed more people at the "check in" area. But none of these things made a difference in how I performed. YOU ASKED for a comment, and there it is.

  • Comments: Race was late but I expected that. The porta potties had toliet paper (nice). Small timing snafu that I feel a little guilty about- I was eating cookies and heard them call Davidtris and my name. I wandered over and they said "hey third place". I said "really?". I was handed a medal. I didnt think it was right but they had the computer in front of them. They said Davidtris finished first so I called him a hooker (bout 40 sec in front of me) and gave him congrats. I cant say I was surprised when I got home and saw the results were mostly correct except there should be a one in front of my finish. I dont know how they knocked out half the field but I now have a faux age group medal. My four year old likes wearing it. " I am a winner like daddy!". Aim high kid and someday you too can finish MOP.

  • Comments: HFP always does a nice job at the races. I would've like to have seen another water station on the run due to the extreme heat. Also they need to work on getting through the packet pickup line faster. The delay in the race only made it hotter. Still, you can't beat the bang for the buck. This is my third time doing Deer Creek and have done many other HFP events. I'll be back for more for sure.
