Total Time = 2h 42m 54s
Overall Rank = 405/1342
Age Group = Clydesdale
Age Group Rank = 4/76
Pre-race routine:

Breakfast, cup of coffee.
Event warmup:

None. There was an hour and 30 minute or so wait between transition closing and my wave starting. I did not figure a warm up would gain anything.
Swim
  • 28m 56s
  • 1640 yards
  • 01m 46s / 100 yards
Comments:

The last two tris, my swim did not start well. I had some bad breathing problems.

I decided to go out moderate and build for teh duration. The plan worked well.
What would you do differently?:

Still need to tweak my breathing.
Transition 1
  • 03m 28s
Comments:

Ate it pretty spectacularly getting out of the water. They had a plywood deck covered in astroturf with 1x4 cleaqts at every 4'. I caught myself on one of the cleats and hit the deck.
What would you do differently?:

Not trip!
Bike
  • 1h 07m 58s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 21.94 mile/hr
Comments:

I had a long training weekend - 4:45 bike and 20 minute run on Saturday and a 2 hour run on Sunday. My goal was to make this a hard training day; work on my swim; get in a wetsuit swim; work on transitions; and work on hydration.
What would you do differently?:

If I were racing, I would not have done the Saturday and Sunday workouts.
Transition 2
  • 02m 22s
Comments:

Tried leaving shoes on bike for first time. That did not work so well.
Run
  • 1h 00m 9s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 09m 41s  min/mile
Comments:

This was a good test as after what I did this weekend and during the bike leg, my leags were DEAD!

I told myself I had to run because walking now would make it that much easier to walk at IM Austira in a few weeks.
What would you do differently?:

The volume from Saturday and Sunday took its toll. I am pleased that I ran the whole thing. I hope my legs feel better on IM day. They should as I will properly taper.
Post race
Warm down:

They had ART people there so I took advantage.
It hurt so good.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Saturday and Sunday training volume.

Event comments:

I used to love this race because of the venue. I think the new RD was more interested in how many people can he get to sign up rather than focusing on quality.
I'll probably pass next year. Triple T is the same weekend. I would love to do that one again.
